  1. Thank all of you for your helpful emails and support! Keep the leads coming! Have about 8-10 left!
  2. Hello Everyone, I know this isn't the marketplace, but there is a local high school (Pensacola, FL) that could really use your help. They planned a trip to Atlanta and ended up not being able to fill the bus and had to cancel the trip. They asked me to help sell the remainder of the tickets, and I thought DCP would be the best place. If you know anyone that may even be slightly interested in going, could you please let me know to contact me. The exact tickets can be found in the marketplace and they are way under face value. Moderators, please let this go for a day or two. I really want to help the band. They have already lost over $1,200 on the trip, and that is a lot these days. Any help, leads, or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! My email is sopmaster1103@gmail.com
  3. 48 HOUR TICKET SALE!!! Section 223, Row 7 I believe the tickets have all been sold. Email me if you would still be interested. I have had a couple orders fall through in the past week, and currently have 4 pending orders. All pending/held orders have 24 hours to respond/pay. After that, I will offer to the next person on the list. sopmaster1103@gmail.com Gabriel
  4. Last Ticket Update: 7/18 (ONLY 14 Tickets left!!) Dear Fellow Drum Corps Fans, I am trying to help out one of the local high school bands (Tate High School in Cantonment, FL). They planned a trip to DCI Atlanta and could not fill the larger charter bus, so they are needing to sell the remaining tickets. The tickets are in a premium spot (not group tickets), right at press box level. Here are the remaining 18 tickets: Section 223 (Row 5, SOLD) Section 223 (Row 6, 6 tickets) Section 223 (Row 7, 8 tickets) The band paid $50 per ticket through the Spirit Organization and they are wanting only face value $40 (no processing fee). USPS Priority shipping and handling on all ticket orders will be a flat $6 per order. If you are interested in buying a larger quantity, they can sell them even cheaper. Paypal payment only. Contact me if you have any questions. sopmaster1103@gmail.com Thanks for your help! Pass the word! Gabriel
  5. http://www.cleanvideosearch.com/media/action/yt/watch?videoId=yNjVjmVypPc If that link doesn't work (we have clean Youtube at work), search youtube for "Blue Devils 07 End of the Opener" Sexiest company front I have ever seen. Haha
  6. Yes, BUT they release the Finals VOD's WELL after the DVDs are released for that competitive season. That way, if you want to watch Finals for the most recent season, you have to wait almost until the next season begins.
  7. I like your ideas. I think that a future Live stream of Finals should only be offered in a package that includes the DVD. That way the DVD sales would either stay the same or increase.
  8. Which question? Ohhh, the personal one that had nothing to do with the discussion or original OP's question? Nope, sure didn't and don't plan to on an internet forum. But again, I understand where you are coming from. Hopefully, DCI will offer Finals on the FN in the future.
  9. I understand where you are coming from but I do believe it would cut into DCI's biggest item, their Finals DVD, and Finals attedance as well. Maybe DCI could show it live ONLY with no on-demand afterwards? It will probably happen soon.
  10. Here is my opinion (Please don't neg me for it) Streaming finals would cut substantially into DCI's DVD sales as well as attendance numbers. And, I know this seems selfish BUT I feel that finals is a very...what is the word...sacred/historical event. I think if they do offer it live in the future, it should be LIVE only with no on-demand or playback option. I am a high school band director and as we all know, teachers don't bring home very big paychecks. However, I save a small amount every paycheck so I can fly or drive to Indy (from Florida) every year at the end of the summer (during our band camps) to witness Finals. I know if I can do it, most anyone can. It just takes planning. Anyway, just my opinion.
  11. I just took two charter buses full of high school students to DCI Atlanta for their first drum corps experience. After the show, they couldn't stop talking about all the corps they liked (which were very different person-to-person). They may have spent a whole two minutes talking about results and the rest of the trip and drive back talking about how amazing the groups were and begging me to take them back next year. They forgot about the results 5 minutes after they were announced. I would write more but you get the point.
  12. This forum has been very refreshing and positive. Thank all of you for speaking your minds and opinions in a professional way. It's been nice to read through. Oh, and thank you guys for posting the twitter comments!
  13. You haven't even seen the BD show live! I saw them in Atlanta and it changed my entire view and opinion of the show. Also, not to bash Crown's brass because they are spectacular and playing probably the most difficult, exposed book this year BUT in ATL, I heard missed entrances (probably due to field coverage), intonation issues and missed notes in the opening feature (Accelerando) and during fanfare, etc. This is probably my third favorite line of Crowns this decade. Best IMO in order were 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2008 (for sheer power). Again, I am hoping Crown will throw down in Indy and win gold but I wouldn't describe this year's brassline as a game changer. They still have LOTS to clean.
  14. I have attended Finals in Indy for the past few years and I have never had any issues parking in the Dome parking lot. If you arrive on time, there are always plenty of parking spaces in the main lot. You have to think, they are used to huge NFL events so the smaller crowd for the DCI finals week doesn't touch the numbers they normally have. Again, if you arrive before the event, just park in the main lot. I usually attend Semis and Finals and always watch all of the corps. If you are the type that just wants to watch the top corps and arrive later then you may run into some issues. Hope that helps.
  15. I haven't posted in DCP for a while but I would like to chime in on the discussion. Most of us are musicians or have been at some point in our lives so we have probably all had to play for some sort of audition or jury. Think about what most of your teachers told you about picking audition pieces. Here is what most teachers will tell you: "Pick something that shows off all of your skills and something that you can perfect before the big audition. Don't ATTEMPT to play the hardest piece you can find just to impress the panel." PS. I love Crown and BD's shows (BD's after seeing it live). Crown just may have bitten off more than they can chew but maybe not. Still two weeks to go! Crown has a beautiful and powerful program. BD has a mesmerizing show that just flows so perfectly. Appreciate them for what they are.
  16. I just wanted to say thank you for posting such a tasteful review, that was strictly your opinion with no bashing involved. As a Blue Devil, I must say that the Cavies are bringing it this year. I am with you, what a creative program they have this summer and it will definitely be one of the front runners for the title. I know you are proud of them. This is an amazing summer with so many great shows and...COMPETITION! I've missed it these last few year. This is what fans love. Going to a show a not knowing. Anyway, may the best corps win in Indy (and not be booed)
  17. Quick question, what is with all of the random order for this year's shows? I get the first two but is there a reason for this show's order and will this continue at other shows?
  18. What is your definition of "huge sound" or "open"??? To say that BD does not have a huge or open sound is crazy. And are you saying it is easier to play more "OPEN" as you say when you have a darker sound??? Please explain that. I coach many brass players and find that to be COMPLETELY false. Openness or fatness of sound has NOTHING to do with timbre.
  19. I like it but the icing on the cake would be to end it with more La Suerte. I do prefer 2006 through 2009 over this year's show. This show is great live but I am constantly listening to shows on my Ipod and this year is just very tough to listen to without having all of the amazing visual elements going on. PS. NUMBER 14!!! WOOOO!!!!
