  1. If you've not noticed, DCI is a copycat activity. First and foremost respect should be given to Crown for the tremendous improvement the organization has made. Second, corps do not call "dibs" on a given piece of music. Most corps have played a piece that another group has played at some point in the long history of DCI. Over the last few years Crown's programs have been very innovative and entertaining and their brass sound is very impressive. They're not guilty of anything different than any of the corps you've mentioned. Give em a break!
  2. All caption scores for last night's DCPI world class competition came directly from the DCI Quaterfinals recap correct?

  12. I just have a couple thoughts to toss into the discussion. First, why is it so unthinkable that a corps like PC could move up. Many corps have improved their programs from one year to the next. And it's usually not overnight and this is no exception. That line of thinking is very narrow minded and if it held true for all corps then most top tiered corps would have never risen through the ranks to become champions. Something else to look at is the simple numbers of it all. I think most of us can agree that if you have a larger selection pool you're going to have access to more talent. So when we look at the state with the largest population in the U.S, California with almost 37 million, which is a significant margin over #2 which is Texas with almost 24 million and only has one World class corps (Crossmen who are an east coast transplant). I'm not saying that CA musicians are more talented than those from any other state, I'm simply suggesting that there are probably a greater number of talented musicians. And I'm also suggesting that in general CA corps are doing a good job of keeping their talent in state. Lets also look at the sad reality that is our economy. Its MUCH more expensive for young people to participate in drum corps. Tour fees have increased not to mention the ridiculous increases in airline travel. So that means not as many kids are able to participate in corps outside of their home area. I can only imagine that this has helped the numbers for PC. So lets applaud progression as opposed to tossing conspiracy theories at it. As for the WCI (its hilarious it has its own acronym now) the reality is that BD and SCV have more championships than any other pairing of corps outside of CA. So the inflation is amounting to a whole lot of championships. There seems to be a larger argument for the excellence of the CA corps. I think PC is now sharing a bit more in the talent pool. Many of you have stated that its pointless to argue that WCI does or does not exist but still you continue to argue the point. Thats just a little silly to me.
