  2. Actually, me and Deb Torchia have gone out a few times, lol. I had to call it quits when she kept Low balling Cavies scores :)
  3. Bluecoats had a rifle drop finals night on the bleachers
  4. I just wanted to say congratulations to the members and staff of the Cavaliers organization. It's amazing the improvement over the course of the season not to mention the course of the year. Always a class organization, with so much history, tradition, pride and swagger you made this FMM proud. Congrats again, looking forward to 2014.
  5. I agree that Crowns line improved last night. I also agree that BD's line, while consistent from quarterfinals, didn't deserve a higher score then the night before. I don't agree with the amount of "improvement" crowns score indicates. They were not better then Bloo or Cavies. Way to high of a score.
  6. I'm not sure if this is a penalty or not and I'm not even sure that it was scvc that did this. But, yesterday I remember a guard leaving the tunnel during another corps performance and standing in the endzone. I remember being caught offguard by this, since i hadn't seen it done before.
  7. I mentioned this last year, but ill bring it up again. There's nothing wrong with supporting your favorite corps. BUT, Last year at finals I had a group of crown parents sitting in front of me. After scores were announced, they start flipping out. Cussing F*** this, F*** that."the blue devils are ruining the activity" "Are the judges deaf and blind?" I've seen some bad fans in my lifetime, but I was thoroughly disgusted at how classless these parents were.
  8. Give it a break already. I sat on the 45, 20 rows up. Cavies were the better corps tonight. Period. ....and I would tell you if that wasn't the case.
  9. Thanks for the posts. Crowns drumline is right where they belong. They should feel lucky phantom isn't in front of them. Groupings: Cadets BD SCV Cavies Bluecoats Phantom Crown Madison
  10. FYI the gray patch is still there and its still distracting, lol. I believe it serves the purpose of holding the ball in place.
  11. If that's indeed the case....then how does Phantom score so high? The girls don't use any type of equipment or props for at least 5 minutes of the show.
  12. I thought some of the guard scores, were kinda off. Bluecoats guard should be more like 9th then 6th. While cavies had a few drops tonight and I can understand achievement score, that content score was really low. Last weekend the guard finished 5th, tonight 10th?
  13. So with the cavies/Madison tie who performs in what order?
  14. 2 notes, cadets show is absolutely beautiful live. cavies should be very proud of themselves. What an improvement over last year ( not to mention the beginning of the season )
  15. Cavies: 1) Machine 2006 2) Frameworks 2002 3) Spin Cycle 2003 4) Niagra Falls 2000 5) Samurai 2008 6) Mad World 2010 7) "007" 2004 8) Four Corners 2001 9) My Kind of Town 2005 10) XtraordinarY 2011 11) And so it goes...2007 12) Secret Society 2013 13) The Great Divide 2009 14) 15 minutes of Fame 2012
  16. When does dci release who the judging panels will be?
  17. Not gonna call it "blatent rip off" or a "homage to", but there's another section that "reminds me a lot of..." During Crowns show the flag ripple/ run that's done quickly backfield with rainbow scheme colors. The ripple matches perfectly with the musical runs in the brass. Very "similar to" the backfield rainbow flag ripples matched to brass Cadets did in 1998. First thing that popped into my mind. Seriously.
  18. Totally agree with this. In 2010, with a new design staff it was great to see the corps back in finals and use their history/tradition to get there. Since then I feel we've been seeing a "best of" show from them. It would be great in 2014 to see the corps move In a new direction. A corps can retain its identity without using drill and music that made them popular in the past. It would be great to see them go back to their jazz roots, but with a current modern twist.
  19. At this point in the game you want your content scores to be higher than your achievement/performance scores. If your performance scores are higher or equal to content that means the members have basically "maxed" out the show according to the judges. The only time you really want performance to equal or exceed your content would be finals night. And of course that brings us to the point a lot of posters are making...Madisons show design, both visual and music are holding them back. I also agree with the post that says Madisons shows are relying too much on the tradition of the corps to carry them through the design process. While it may connect emotionally with the audience, its not connecting to the judges on the sheets. Until that balance can be found, Madison is going to stay in the 8-10 range.
  20. A cavies member actually fell during a show? And this close to Finals? Are you kidding? Guess I should sell my ticket, cause it doesn't look like their gonna make Finals. I think I'm gonna tell my friend who marched BD to sell his ticket too. In case you didn't hear the guard had a few rifle drops in Atlanta. This close to finals? Crown fans, your not excluded from this! Your percussion is scoring 5th. This close to Finals? I mean what's happening? Point proven. End sarcasm. Just not quite sure why a thread titled "cavies struggles" had to be pulled up after being buried a month. Couldn't the comment just have been posted in the active Atlanta thread? And if the OP had read the Atlanta thread they would have discovered that there were multiple falls by multiple corps in Atlanta. And they would've read the reason behind the slippery turf. Uugh.
  21. Personally I believe the tour should consist of the 6 current corps that have won division one world class titles. I say this meaning no disrespect to crown or bloo. Plain and simple, you win a title you get a spot. No strange exclusions, no exceptions to the rule. You win your in.
  22. I agree that the combination of torchia, Kelly, miller and lentz are my least favorite combination of judges and Definitly benefits some corps more then others. Bostons guard went from 11th in san antonio to 6th in Atlanta. They had a 1.2 point jump in 1 week, torchia has all other guards improving in the .3 to .6 range during same time frame. Say what you want but that's a huge jump in a single caption. Head to head the week leading into Atlanta Cavies guard was scoring .8 higher then Boston, as someone pointed out earlier. Suddenly in Atlanta bostons guard goes up 1 point to best the Cavies by .2. Sorry I don't believe it. And I agree BD guard had a bad run yesterday. There were better guards on that field in Atlanta.
  23. While some fans may not make excuses or complain, there are plenty of these same fans who make themselves feel better by constantly wishing ill will towards corps that place ahead of them. I read it in show reviews and in individual comments posted on this board and I'm not just referring to things said about the Cavies. I'm so sick and tired of hearing these same people whine and complain about the "G7" and the TOC. If any corps has a right to participate in the TOC its the Cavaliers. Last time I checked the Cavaliers had 7 championships. And BTW cavies did not do much better with the draw of time slot in ATL.
  24. Not surprised to see Bostons guard score. Every corps has "that judge" and Torchia is known to score Cavies guard low. Every time I see her on a regional or finals panel, I know the score will be lower. Knowing her history with Boston as well, its not a surprise at all.
