  1. I sent her an Email with a photo to use. (from Early 1960's) But no reply the other day.
  2. Sorry if I was not clear. I was (and I think the Scout's) were refering to the : "Audition FEE"("audition process") fee. After that the same fee as anyone else would be ok. AND !! No one is "obligated". DCI or DCA. BUT !!! NICE thing to do. A real Win - Win for ALL. Lets face it. If /when, they go back to DCI. They will have YOUR memories and a possible RETURN to YOU. When they age out of DCI. That alone should make MORE DCA Corps be jumping on this.
  3. I hope that the following line in the " Madison Scouts " reply to the "Glassmen" problem is included. What a GREAT thing to do!!!!! " If you are a member of the Glassmen or were in their audition process, we will waive any audition fees in trying out for the Scouts. " (For sure ALL DCI Corps should have this included.) Also. I do hope that many DCA Corps send out a notice to get some of these kids back on the field. Heck maybe a lot of them may be in YOUR area too. They did come from All Over the USA. If they stay even just only 1 year. Look at the Talent you would have.
  4. Saw rhe following on your site. Schedule: August 30 – September 1 – DCA World Championships (Annapolis, MD In what part's will you be IN????
  5. Yes I think you are right. But I would word it different. The larger Ugly one is for WC "Colts". (I just do not like it at all as shown) The smaller nicer one for the "Colt Cadets". (But, maybe with White pant's on BOTH, would help me some!)
  6. Thank You Nanci. AND A: Merry Christmas back to YOU !!!
  7. New York State DCA All-Age -> " Excelsior " --> " Sunrisers " ---> " White Sabers " Many "Mini Corps", "Alumni Corps", "Parade & Exhibition Corps"
  8. AGAIN here. The Musical Unit's in the Parade are Chosen by the STATE party of the winner of the Pres. Election. Has Nothing to do with any Drum Corps Circuts or Drum Corps Orgs in any way. So if "STATE of Ill. Dem Party" wants Cavies or Phanton. All they have to do is INVITE on of them. Troopers have also done one and many others.)
  9. The musical units are chosen by the ---> STATE party <--- of the of the person who won the Presidential election. This is NOT the first time for Boston Crusaders. I know they also did JFK one, and maybe another time. Troopers did Clinton I think, and there have been others. Has Nothing to do with ANY Drum Corps Circuts or Drum Corps Org's of any kind. (Oh and by the way even though they are a Band. Jackson Memorial HS, of JACKSON, New Jersey. Will do BOTH "Rose Bowl Parade" AND the "Pres. Inaugural Parade. (very Drum Corps Style Band)
  10. This Year, the "GAS 2013 Reunion" is: May 3rd, 4th, & 5th. and is being held at the: --> SHERATON MAHWAH HOTEL, ---> Mahwah, New Jersey. Hosted by the "Yankee Rebels Alumni Association"! Ronald (Ron) Bonadonna, will be in charge of: GAS Weekend Tickets, Registration, and Hotel Reservations! All Information will be sent to you from: RonBon62@comcast.net
  11. Sounds Great !!!! BUT, what will you be Playing? "Sunrisers - Keep it Going. - Keep it Growing." - Good having you Back!
  12. Jeff; You may add: You have people in the first 5 or more rows, and the Disabled seating area, that get to "See and Hear", not much more than the Pit. (and as we know DCA uses a lot of smaller stadiums. You may be talking about 1/4 of your "Paying Fans in the Stands".)
  13. My problem with the pit's of today is how large and loud they are to me. I am disabled and almost always have to sit in the first row area. So I have already given up seeing the many great drill's of today. I sit at about head level with the pit members. Many even up some rows are over powerd by it. I wonder are the Amps going to make it even worse?
  14. Yes, there was a Big one in Boston (early 1960's) also. We took a few car loads of us (Asbury Park,NJ - Hurricanes Jr Corps) up from the New Jersey shore area. It had Both Jr and Sr. The one's I liked best were Garfield Cadets and St. Kevin's in Jr and Princemen in Sr part. Garfield won Jr part, and got a Trophy as big as the Drum Major. (A photo of it was in Drum Corps News) I know ther were about 5 Jr and a few Sr part. (and had a Horrible ride back home. Hit a bad Snow Storm in CT on the way back home. Then also had to sit in one of those stupid rear facing back seats they use to have in "Station Wagons" back then. I was in one of the Indoor Wildwood shows, which was more of the stand still type, and as I said elsewhwew on here. The Madison Square Garden main arena full field show on the Hockey floor.)
  15. I know that in 1976 That there was a Show in Madison Square Garden, in NYC. On the Hockey rink floor. Nice crowd as I remember. Two sub stories. At practice while redoing drill to fit the space I got hit with a flag pole. (out side we were more than 5 yards apart. Inside a Hockey space we were just a few feet apart. Then the sad part for us (NYC Sky) we were beat by the other local NY Corps. (LI Sunrisers) Can not remember who else was in it. I think Cabs, Hurks, RI Mattadors) Maybe someone else from the show can remember, I can not find scores even on CorpsReps.
  16. Well people. I have "competed" in every decade since 1962. (over 45 Years) Seen a lot of changes in that time. In all areas: Junior, Senior, and All Age. As far as I can tell. DCA will be gone as we knew/know it, in 5,6, maybe 8 years. It will just be a part (Division maybe) of DCI. I call whats done today: "Band Corps Field Theater". Good Luck, Enjoy, Have Fun. Your talent and quality can not be denied. I hope you all have your BEST Season ever !!! (I do not hate you, or what you do at all. Just not the "Product" I want. We all have a different taste for what we like. Nothing wrong with that.)
  17. Agree. Been there. Done that, also.(I re-read my things and still leave things out)
  18. Well I hope some of the " Florida " kids can/will go to TB Thunder, Sun Devils (DCA in FL) or up to Atlanta for Spirit(DCI) or CV Atlanta(DCA) (OH forgot the Boston Crusaders spend a lot of the off season in FL also)
  19. For some reason I think PHANTOM REGIMENT will make Finals. (as Good as: Crossmen, Academy, Spirit, Blue Knights, are. I feel sure Phantom will be above them.
  20. I would be more inclined to think it is more, because of Multipal reasons. Not any "One" issue in prticular. Maybe - Travel Costs.(As Fred say's above.) Maybe - Finding and Keeping members.(Hard in NY State as age the membership gets younger. Because of School year. Junior Corps have always had a problem with that.) Maybe - The more DCI style of things.(Horns type & Judging Etc.) Maybe - Cost over all of running a Top Open Class Corps. (And now the added expenses of amps. Then also. you know the rest of A&E will be here sooner thsn later). Maybe - the Bruni family and other management, wants to leave on a High Point. Could be any of these, or a combo of many these things. That, You or I don't know of. What ever the reasons. Sure is sad to see one of my Favorite Corps leaving.
  21. Yes, this is Good News. They were a nice Corps on and off the field). Welcome Back! (met some of them at last DCA they were in. Good people for sure)
  22. I can not remember exact year. BUT, I can tell you "Phantom Regiment" to this day is one of my Favorite Corps. Along with the Madison Scouts. Both every Yesr. (I do watch the Vidio's) Then for some reason I can not figure out, The Cavaliers the year they did "Machine". I am disabled and have to sit low and, all I get to see and hear is the Pit. Then also the Cost of tickets for bad seats does not help.
  23. How very SAD also that someone can have an "Idea", or "Opinion" and not get Red Marks. I meant no harm to DCI or DCA. If all the changes being made are what you (the people) want. " THAT IS GOOD!!! " Not Wrong or Bad. So also say. If that, is NOT what you want that is " OK ". I do not give Red Marks, to people I do not agree with. BUT, I do give a lot of Green ones to the ones I like.
  24. It is with much sadness. I say the following. (an edited post I did. posted Dec. 3rd 2012 on another site.) ------------------ "Senior Corps" was eliminated to make way for "All Age" . Which was a Good Move. The "Class A Division": Another Great move. BUT, overall has now changed into "DCIA" without, Mikes, Amps, Electronic's, and a few other DCI items. Now, With the "Rule's" meetings this year, and surprise what? MIKES, AMPS, and, maybe even Electronic's will be brought up. (What a shock. Just Amp Pit and Conductor. Yea right!) SO, I say: Within 5 or 6 Years. DCI and DCA will be One. Why have TWO. Just allow one Division to have people over 22 years old. One Division will be the DCI TOC type Corps. Maybe expanded to 12 Corps. The rest of World Class & the top 5 DCA Open Class, and Top 5 DCI Open Class will go to a New Division. Then also a Weekends Only Division as a catch all that is left for, the Old, DCI & DCA Corps. (Which is where many "All Age" would go.) A "DCIA org." couldl be something like this: 1 - "World Class Div." (Top 12 Championship corps) 2 - "WC Open Class Division" ( Top 5 DCA Corps + Lower DCI WC, 5 Top DCI Open Corps) 3 - "Weekends Only Div." (All DCI & DCA Corps that are Not part of other Divisions) Then at "World Championships", it would be 2 show's as now. 1- Both "WC Divisions" in one Championship. (WC & WCO Corps in Prelims, Simi's, Finals) 2 - Weekends Only Championship. Anyway DCA, as we know it will be gone. It is not a matter of "IF" it happens, but is "WHEN", it happens. That's FINE, if that is what the people want. ----> Good Luck, Have Fun, the Quality and Excellance are Great, Enjoy!!!!! <---- Leaving only the "Alumni (Type) Corps" movement for the "Just for Fun and Fans" people to enjoy. But for me it is almost time to say "Good Bye DCA" to you also. (I said "Good Bye" to DCI about 15 years ago.) Tommy "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away". "Be who you are, and say what you feel, ...because those that matter don't mind, and those that mind, don't matter." Tommy
  25. (Just felt the same way as 2B) Maybe that's how things will be in the future.(Les Dip's) But, not for ME.
