  1. I've had few technical problems. I think the worst thing about the Fan Network is the design. It's an eyesore.
  2. After listening to the Field Pass I'm assuming it going to be about September 11th?
  3. 2007 Carolina Crown - Triple Crown 2005 Phantom Regiment - Rhapsody These two shows are never my first choice to rewatch, but when I do they capture my heart all over again.
  4. 1 - Blue Devils 2 - Bluecoats 3 - Cavaliers 4 - Phantom Regiment 5 - Carolina Crown 6 - Cadets 7 - Blue Stars 8 - Santa Clara Vanguard 9 - Boston Crusaders 0 - Madison Scouts 1 - Blue Knights 2 - Glassmen
  5. I call for a return to the Cotton Bowl.
  6. Did the allowance of dance in the activity cause this much stir when it happened? What about the switch to Bflat? Today, I don't think we can say that those detract from the experience. Electronics is the new design toy, I'm sure once the sparkle wears off it will be pushed back to more relevant moments. It's my personal opinion that there is only one evil that can bring drum corps down, Woodwinds, and if they haven't added that then there is no reason to get our pitch forks out. I though DCI was founded so that drum corps could evolve and not have limits on creativity. Why quit now? The journey is just now getting started.
  7. I respect the talent, hard work, and dedication of everyone involved with the BD. They really put on a great show, but... We all see the unbelievable talent and the groundbreaking design, and that's what is so upsetting. They have all these resources and for the past four years failed to build an emotional connection with many of us. They keep getting edgier and edgier, but all I want is a show that will bring me goosebumps. Last night I felt that it was only their technical brilliance that was forcing me through the performance. Where's the passion? What happened to the godfathers and the spanish hearts? I would have no qualms about them having two undefeated season then. They, more that anyone else, needs to listen to DCI's new initiative to be more fan oriented.
  8. The message says they have every intention to return to the Alamodome next year. I'm gonna assume the Southwestern championship will be moved back to its old weekend.
  9. But this year they moved finals back.
  10. So, umm San Antonio doesn't show up in the ticket page anymore, and the show information page is gone, and the schedule now only says "Event Information Coming Soon!!" I'm just saying... I'm starting get a little worried.
  11. So I'm suppose to choose who I think could pull it off the best? ... ... bl..ue...coats?
  12. Will be there! :) You can count on me. Pictures from last year... http://picasaweb.google.com/MikeATX/200906...ewAtTheCapital#
  13. I'm gonna go with 1987. I'm a huge Copland fan, and Appalachian Spring is one of my all-time favorite orchestral pieces. When I heard that SCV was gonna put a pure version on the field I was extremely excited. When it came down to seeing it live, it just seemed... sterile. There wasn't much of the "drum corps magic" I know SCV can produce. I did love how they arranged it in order and didn't chop it up Cadet style, and that company front and chord was beautiful. In the end, I was more emotionally stirred from even the Mandarins than I was SCV.
  14. I kinda find it surprising that some of y'all complain all day about the acoustical problems domed stadiums have, but equally complain about the heat. Hasn't every championship before this last year been at an outdoor stadium? I'm sure a lot of them have been hot. You can't have your cake and eat it too. I personally would brave the heat for a better drum corps sound. ..and I have an honest question. Has there been any championship that rained out?
  15. Makes you wonder if DCI is having problems reserving the stadium because of the change in the schedule. That being said, there is something I've had on my chest for awhile... There are so many other texas stadiums that would be more suitable for hosting the Southwestern championship, or even the World Championship. My shortlist: The Cotton Bowl (Dallas, TX) - A great historical stadium and recently renovated. Site of the 1991 DCI World Championship. Build in Dallas' beautiful Fair Park. Has advantages of being near DFW Airport and is located on the DART public train system that connects all of the Dallas entertainment districts. Ever since LOS designers HKS build their other great masterpiece down the road, Cowboy Stadium, the Cotton Bowl no longer even hosts the actual Cotton Bowl and has been left without a purpose of sorts. DCI could solve this. Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium (Austin, TX) - The largest outdoor stadium in Texas. On the venerable University of Texas campus. Home of the "Showband of the Southwest" Longhorn Band. This would an amazing site for a regional or world championship event. Austin is also one of the most gorgeous cities in the state and is known as the "Live Muisc Capital of the World" besides actually being the state capital. Definitely offers more in the area of tourism than San Antonio's Creekwalk. It would also be a more efficient and strategic location between Dallas and Houston. You could even talk the university to light up the Bell Tower orange and spellout "DCI" in the windows like they do for other major events. How cool would that be? My point is Texas has so much more to offer. Why the Alamodome? There are so many more better equipped, sounding, historical, beautiful stadiums just waiting to host something like a DCI event.
  16. http://www.dci.org/schedule/detail.cfm?eve...36-d291d554dfa3 "On-Sale Date Coming Soon! The sale of San Antonio tickets originally scheduled for January 18 has been postponed due to circumstances beyond our control. We apologize for the inconvenience. Check back soon to get your tickets to this exciting event!" Guess that answers my question. Kinda was hoping I'd get a poster today tho.
  17. So, what's up with San Antonio? The tour schedule show that it will we on July 24th, one week later than it usually is. Ticketmaster already shows the event and has is scheduled for the 17th. The Alamodome website still doesn't even show the event, and it seem to have been recently removed for the "Mega Monday" advertisement. So, is it gonna be on the 24th or not, and is going on sale tomorrow or not?
  18. I'm excited about this "new interface" thing. It has a lot of room for improvement.
  19. I thought they went on sale tomorrow. 3-20-09
  20. So where are the corps blocks gonna be located? I'm thinking of buying my tickets from the cavies... I've given up on ticketmaster for good seats.
  21. I had to do this for my speech class last fall. I ended up choosing Santa Clara Vanguard's 2004 closer where they do the pinchy-company front thing. (10:45-11:15) It just seemed to capture snippets of everything I wanted my classmates to experience. Amazing drill, amazing colorguard, amazing crowd reaction. By far not the best of any three, but all in a convenient 30 seconds.
