  1. This listing just went up, cool!! http://cgi.ebay.com/Kanstul-Soprano-Bugle-Key-G-/200628291469?pt=Brass_Instruments&hash=item2eb660c78d
  2. i know they're not cheap but kanstul is somehow fast tracking bugles. i'm told they are shippng in two to three weeks instead of months!
  3. you youngsters forget the bikini girls that jumped out of a giant hat at the end of VK's show. not to mention the "sex cymbals" of the late 80's and 90's
  4. if anyone gave a rat sass, then this would have come up last august.
  5. you forgot to mention KANSTUL (even though no one plays them anymore I guess) um..can you say "free horns"?
  6. no, no, no. no "I Am Spartacus", please. you know, it DOESN'T really need to be said aloud I also highly dislike the built-in gimmick Vanguard uses. no offense to the Vanguard, but the more people catch on to this "gimmick", the lower their scores! viva Vanguard, no gimmick in '08!
  7. I had this Tivo'd but finally got to watch the whole thing. Patrick is very inspirational!! kudos to him, his dad and family for all the support. kudos to Kanstul for that beautiful trumpet too!!
  8. Tivo'd it, finally got to watch the whole thing with my family. wow, Patrick is an inspiration. that was pretty cool of Kanstul to donate that trumpet too.
  9. i'm pretty sure Zig does not have an email address but if you send an email to sales@kanstul.com or to their sales manager Charles Hargett - charles@kanstul.com then they will forward it to Zig
  10. when I marched corps we played mostly Kanstul and some Kings. those were built to last many years, unlike today's disposible brass. also, we were a poor corps. we had to take care of our equipment unlike some corps i've seen who disrepect their equipment because they didn't fundraise, work bingo, or take out a loan to pay for it.
  11. the only "old craftsman from King" that mattered was zig kanstul. He designed all that marching brass. i still want to know what a "training horn" is? like a training bra? or training wheels? because the Kanstul stuff is top of the line, and using them for "training" is disrespectful to all the sponsors and donors who paid for them. and at six years old, they are just getting broken in. Dynasty horns are designed to last only about three to four years (think "Bic") but Kanstul will last for 10+
  12. of course I read this, but i'm still soured. in my opinion the Kanstul's are not training horns. my family and i wanted to see this horn in competition (and we almost saw it make top twelve!!). this is not about Jupiter making and testing better horns for the good of the activity, this is about money and now I feel that Academy sold out. to Mr. Fox who said that Kanstul doesn't give ANYTHING away, this is true. but maybe he feels he doesn't have to BUY the business. i can't speak for him. the school where I work has a full set of kanstuls and these are the best horns money can buy. we never even THOUGHT of trying to get anything FREE from them, we just wanted the best horns we could get. Academy aside tho, i think that in a few years that Jupiter will be like Yamaha. it will be generally accepted and will probably be a quality product.
  13. i have to express my disappointment with Academy. my family sponsored one of the Kanstul horns they play, and I know some other sponsors. maybe we'll get together and write a letter expressing our disappointment. not only that, the kanstul horns sounded marvelous, and gave Academy a distinctive sound which made them stand out from the rest of the pack. i'm very disappointed here
