  3. So I have been going to the quarterfinals at the Theater at Carousel Mall for the past three or four years. The presentation has been alright, sound and picture fine to great. The first year I went it was showing in two different theaters. Syracuse is a drum corps town and the fans really pack it in for the show at the theater. So you can imagine how unsurprised I was when I pulled into the parking lot and saw it packed full of cars with DCI and DCA related stickers on them. As soon as I got up the escalator, I could feel this odd aura. It was quiet, too quiet. It was at about this point I started to get worried. When I went to get my ticket I was told it was sold out and had been since 5:30 or so. I asked if any other theater could be opened and was told no it couldn't. At this point I planned to head down, cut my losses and do some shopping. This was when we ran into our new friend. So as we are leaving an older man comes into our path and says "Don't you dare leave". So my friend and I stare at him and then he says "Look" and steps aside. Behind him are about 20-30 Drum Corps fans of varying age. "Join us" he says. It was at about this point that the thought first entered my mind, "Hell Hath No Fury Like a Drum Corps Fan Scorned". So now there was an ever growing group of angry drum corps fans glowering at the ticket booth waiting to see what would happen. Thats when one women, I believe her name was Diane, whipped out her iPhone and called Regal Cinemas HQ. After a few minutes of talking with them and getting nowhere, she hung up and called iFathom Events. She talked to a real person and actually got a bit done, thats when others began calling. I called and was surprised to hear the following recording: To schedule a group sale Press 1 To schedule a private showing press 2 To put church services on the Screen Press 3 To speak to the Vice President Press 4 ...wait what was that last part. So I pressed 4. The man on the other end was Mike Nelson, I have no idea if he was the VP or not but he was very kind and helpful. We talked for a while and he mentioned that the next 9 lines on his phone were all Syracuse area code numbers. He called the theater and tried to prepare a deal for us. Alas it was not to be due to contracts with other movie studios. But as we were leaving I received a phone call. It was Mike Nelson calling to apologize that he couldn't do more. I guess the moral here is that Regal Cinemas didn't seem to care about the customers, but iFathom cared about us and tried to help. I just figured I would put this here as a way to thank them. And as for the rest of the night, it was still fun. There are few fans who would stay and "Threaten rioting, lol j/k" while waiting to see if we could get in. If there is one thing it proves, it is "Hell Hath No Fury Like a Drum Corps Fan Scorned".

  8. Altoona Ambrassadors World Class The Altoona Ambrassadors are also entering their first season of competition in DCPI during season XIII. Representing the highest level of Drum Corps in the YRMO, the Ambrassadors are the Pinnacle of skill, precision and musical ability. They are made up of the best musicians to audition for our organization. For their first season, the Ambrassadors are proud to present a classic, traditional drum corps show titled "The Best of the Seventies". The corps will present the music that was made famous by corps of the seventies in a traditional format. The program includes: Off The Line: "Ghost Riders in the Sky" Color Pre: "Battle Hymn of the Republic" "Man of La Mancha" "Hall of the Mountain King" "Somewhere" "If" The Ambrassadors look forward to their inaugural season and hope the fans do as well.
  9. Black Diamond Open Class Black Diamond of Centralia, Pennsylvania is proud to announce their debut in DCPI Season XIII Competition. Although Centralia is made up of only 9 permanent residents, they are proud to be hosting the musicians who have been sent their after audition season concluded. We would like to thank the village of Centralia for allowing us to use their fire house as a meeting place. If their is one nice thing about the town, it is that the lack of home and many open lots allow for many places to practice. The Black Diamond Drum and Bugle Corps is created as a way to bring to the East Coast the fun loving, and sometimes comedic style of drum corps seen on the West Coast. As such, Black Diamond is proud to announce their inaugural season program. After noting the success of many corps and their use of props in that other Drum Corps association, Black Diamond has decided to use this as a recipe for success. Thus we are proud to announce our Season XIII program: "TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs"! Each member of the corps will enter the field carrying a ladder and chair as well as pushing a table. The result: A drum corps show unlike any you have ever seen! The show is divided into three sections. Tables: Music includes "Knights of the Round Table" from "Spamalot", "Be Our Guest" from "Beauty and the Beast" and music from "The Factory". Ladders: Music will include "Songs of Chicago" and "Stairway to Heaven" Chairs: Music will include "Happy Days Are Here Again" and "Get Happy". Black Diamond is looking forward to its first season and hopes to see you at your local DCPI Show.
  10. Gettysburg Yankee Rebels Class A The Gettysburg Yankee Rebels return for their third season of DCPI Competition looking to break into Finals after a 13th place finish in Indianapolis last season. This year they complete their Civil War Movie Trilogy by presenting the music of the 1989 film, "Glory". Pieces from the film tat will be played include "A Call to Arms", "Forming the Regiment", "Preparations for Battle", "Charging Fort Wagner", and "Closing Credits". The Yankee Rebels are looking forward to another successful season and hope that their fans are as well.
  11. It is with great pleasure that we announce the creation of the Yankee Rebels Music Organization (YRMO)! The YRMO pledges to work to bring Drum Corps to Pennsylvania youth in the areas surrounding their three main corps. After two successful seasons in DCPI, the Yankee Rebels Board of Directors have decided to dip their feet into the waters of Open and World Class competition. It was thus decided that the Yankee Rebels would work to create new corps to introduce a farm system of drum corps to their members. The organization was thus founded and its three corps will begin competition in DCPI Season XIII. Corps, Repertoires and Uniform announcements will follow.
