  1. Are you using 'Tronned' correctly? If you ran into him, wouldnt it have been you who got tronned, like in the game when you lose? Or based on Urban dictionary, you would have tronned him if you went around him. You're right that it's annoying when people stop in a walkway, regardless if it is smartphone related or just because they're oblivious.
  2. BAC and BC passed Cavaliers in percussion since last Saturday. Wonder if something happened or if it is just judging discrepancies.
  3. I was pretty high, on the side 2 20. Forgive me because this is a brief recollection of last night. I had no cell service. Music City - Strong performance to start the night. Some really neat visual moments throughout the show. I enjoyed some of the music too, but the tunes didn’t all “fit” together in my opinion. The Doppler effect was much louder on the speakers than the acoustic horns so it didn’t really work from where I sat. BK - I liked this much more than last year. I enjoyed some of the Nijinsky choreography and the backfield speaker. I don’t know why we were looking at the back of the props for half the show. Cadets - Much stronger than what I’ve heard. I love the Shakos! Some nice visual moments with the black backs/zebra fronts. Singers did a great job. Cavaliers - Their performance sounded much more acoustic than the rest. I don’t know if this was on purpose, but from where I sat this meant everything was a little less impactful because the max volume was a bit lower. I really enjoy the early brass moment and I love the sassy step-over! Boston - Wowzer this was better than I thought from youtube. Guard is on fire. I enjoyed the spelling out “Lost” “We were here” etc. The props in the back corner don’t do much else, though. Some members are having a hard time getting hidden at the end as well. Crown - A bit underwhelmed. The played great but the colors all mesh together and there is no visual clarity. The slow part with the lady horns and their uniform change was weird and I didn’t know what was happening. I loved the rock section at the end when they finally use the big prop. They sound fantastic. I think BAC and Cavies had more enjoyable shows, though the crowd around me disagrees based on their reaction. BD - Holy cow. How does BD do it? Their visuals are always unique and refreshing. The speakers were a bit too loud at points. Loved the whole show concept and execution. Bluecoats - The soloist stole the show. Her choreography is spot on with the music and the singing blends in fantastically. I’m sure I missed many moments because I was fixated on her. The uniforms are refreshing. I loved the fake-out at the beginning. SCV - They do the most marching and playing. So aggressive, so exciting. I was enamored at every moment. The top 3 are at another level entirely.
  4. Yep. Murfreesboro audience is super bando. Most of the crowd is bussed at the end of their band camp, so it rivals the BOA symposium show in terms of reaction. Especially for Crown. Just hearing the name gets the kids up.
  5. The audience consumes a different amount of media daily than they did 10, 20, 30 years ago.
  6. Would you consider that leak in a different category than a poster who comments "all the shows suck" or something similar on thread after thread? Or do you think they have similar impact? Maybe the leak is a bit more than the "drum corps is worse now" I originally posted when I said delete your account. Was the impact of the leaked docs on show design?
  7. Can you name times where DCP posts changed the activity in the direction a poster requested? I think some people just like to complain.
  8. Maybe they are including amateur performances like high school/college, considering it is a youth activity. This is common to the performances I've seen and been in. All hands on deck!
  9. Then corps could add projection rigs and light shows. Load in and load out before and after the show!
  10. All? Crown doesn't have a great brass sound? You must have not heard them do the Bruckner.
  11. Don't the themes pull from multiple sources? For examples, SCV has a dance that pull from some hip hop (or hbcu). Ballet and other dance are factored into choreography. Did BD's haireography come from WGI? Were the Samurai movements from 08 Cavaliers WGI based? I think today's corps are more of an artistic mashup than ever before.
  12. You didn't live will cell phone culture. Scroll and something new and amazing is being shown to you every couple of seconds.
  13. It's harder to wow audiences when they can watch anything that has ever been created on their portable computer from any location. It's also harder to 1 up last year each year because it's harder to find something that hasn't been done. Watch any individual member and they're moving more than almost any other year. We just become numb to it. What used to be a halt is now choreography. What used to be marching is now running. If your only answer is "because drum corps has gotten worse," delete your account. Why are you still here?
  14. Ah, ok. I've just seen the comment so many times. Thanks for clarifying
