  1. Carolina Thunder Drum & Bugle Corps is organizing in the Charlotte, NC area and plans to form a Mini-Corps for 2017.   2. Carolina Thunder is pleased to announce the winner of the CT Logo Contest is….insert drum roll here……. Jeffry Pike of Boston, Massachusetts. Jeff's design focuses on the legend of Thor, a mythical Viking Norse god of thunder who created thunder with his hammer and anvil. The winning design was selected on May 31st at a Carolina Thunder weekend rehearsal in Rock Hill, South Carolina. This new logo will be utilized on all printed materials, the Carolina Thunder website, as well as any signage and equipment. "We appreciate the efforts of everyone who submitted a design and recognize thank you for your participation," says Director Greg Dearman. The contest proved to be widely accepted as many entries were submitted from within the United States as well as India and Germany.   3. Are You Ready for Some Football ?!?! Charlotte, NC (April 5, 2009) – The Carolina Thunder Drum Line is gearing up to entertain fans of all ages at tailgating and pre-game activities around Bank of America Stadium on select NFL Sundays. This unique, high-energy group made its performance debut at select home games last season and was enthusiastically received by attending fans. “Our goal is to add excitement and energy to the game day atmosphere and over all fan experience." says Ensemble Director Greg Dearman. "It is a lot of fun for us, because we are all football fans too." The 2009 ensemble membership will be include performers ages 18 and older and will hold regularly scheduled rehearsals throughout the summer in preparation for the fall football season. Typically, ensemble members come from a variety of backgrounds including former marching band and drum corps members, teachers, small business owners and various other professions. "We are most interested in recruiting talented percussionists who can perform in front of large audiences with precision, accuracy, and enthusiasm," says Program Coordinator Greg Shull. "The ensemble delivers high quality performances to audiences of all ages to ensure every person receives a world-class entertainment experience.” Auditions will be held on May 2 from 9am until 4pm in the South Pointe High School band room (801 Neely Road, Rock Hill SC).   5. Hi everyone, I was involved with several drum corps and indoor percussion groups starting back in the late 1970s. I am back again and am planning the start of an all-age mini corps in the Carolinas. More details soon!
