  1. Yes, there seems to have been a problem at onetime in the recent past, perhaps with this site (forums) or their name servers (unlikely). Google cache files (the ones used for speedy searching) have http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/ pointing to a bogus url4short.info site. When searching for "DCP" on Google you will get an entry for dcp forums, and the first time you click the link you will see the re-direct page to a presumed trojan site (seemingly no longer there.) However once you go back and click on the Google provided search results, the 'real' Google search data will be used (no the cached version) and you will be directed to the correct URL; Http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/ I'm not sure how to remedy, as would require Google to update their cached search entries. Perhaps updating the keywords for the might prompt a change in a few days? Or if registered with adwords, maybe an update?

  3. Thanks for the video stream and commentary! Fantastic job DCA, DCP, Box5, and friends!
  4. I'll agree and wax philosophical for a moment. Constraints are the measure by which one can compare performances. Entertainment is the byproduct of the competition for excellence and creativity. Competition requires boundaries by which to adjudicate and the genre requires constraints to define itself. Some innovations do not upset these necessary constraints and are welcomed. Some proposed "innovations" break the constraints and disrupt the genre. These are separate and distinct in theory, but in practice are equally proclaimed as subjective opinion. That being said, I believe there are some who would willingly sacrifice the genre using misleading rationale and rhetoric to further their own agendas. I also believe there are some who would rail against any innovation in the name of tradition. But, if I had to identify a greater evil to the activity, it would be the former.

  9. Albeit DCA, the Reading Buccaneers have had full-sized & mini format posters for sale since 2004. http://www.cafepress.com/readingbucs2010 http://www.cafepress.com/readingbucs2009 http://www.cafepress.com/readingbucs2008 http://www.cafepress.com/readingbucs2007 http://www.cafepress.com/readingbucs2006 http://www.cafepress.com/readingbucs2005 http://www.cafepress.com/readingbucs2004
  10. I enjoyed the zebra-striping, sorry to see it go...
  11. The skin/design of IPB is superb. Rarely do you hear compliments, but there ya go. Change itself is the biggest confounding issue in determining design success. The subtleties can best be seen using a modern browser (not IE) - rounded corners, text effects etc. This shows a willingness and philosophy of Progressive Enhancement on the part of the IPB team. Excellent product! To those who think garish color palettes are preferable... I feel for you. ;-) If you need to "increase text size" - there is a nifty function in your browser called View -> Zoom (Firefox) or View -> Text Size (Internet Exploder)
  12. Sounds like you have your resolution set to 800x600. I would venture a guess this is to make the text larger for you and your wife to read easily. Unfortunately this has the unwanted effect of limiting your viewport on many websites which are standardized to 960px+ wide. May I suggest: setting your desktop resolution to 1024x768. Once done, you can then alter your desktop display properties (right-click on desktop -> Properties -> Display Properties -> Appearance) and change the "font size" to "Large." This will bump-up the default font size while still keeping your at 1024x768 resolution. Also, I recommend (on the same menu) clicking on the Advanced button and checking the "Clear Type" checkbox. This should also improve the font clarity in under Windows XP. Good Luck! The DCP site (IPB base) is well conceived and loaded with usability best practices - however, one can't always say the same for default Windows OS configurations... Good Luck! -j
