We all know that D1 football programs are cash cows, and a successful team brings in more money. Minnesota was 6-7 last year, if they pick up a couple more wins, that could be worth millions in new revenue. So while the DCI show can bring in a few hundred thousand, that pales in comparison to the millions they can bring in by being a better football team. Better team brings in better recruits, which leads to a better team, and so on

They had a show designed with music, was supposed to be some sort of dark circus show. Included Mackey's High Wire and the revised version of Send in the Clowns. Rights for one of the pieces (closer maybe) got pulled, so they had to scramble and find a new show. Scheherezade happened in its place
