  1. 2014 Govies is still one of the best shows that I've gotten to perform in--we had a whopping 13 horns that year, one of who was on the sideline all show. Edit--our battery and guard were humongous however 😆
  2. Huge blue flag passing over the horns as Hell freezes over!
  3. Some electronics issues with Colts, but they’ve got them figured out!
  4. Agreed. If this is a valid allegation/complaint then it needs to be dealt with immediately. As a Pioneer alumni, I will 100% support that.
  5. I’d love to see a drum corps show at OSU. Logistics in and out of the stadium would work well. However, I feel like parking would be the big issue—assuming it’s a major show, the surface lots immediately north of the Stadium would fill up with corps parking—leaving not a lot of remaining space for spectators, and the next closest surface lots are relatively far away.
  6. We've had our show announced at Chops since October! https://www.chopsinc.com/drum-corps/2018/ I believe Minnesota Brass and the Govenaires have also announced their 2018 productions! :)
  7. Speaking as an OSU student and a current member of the OSU athletic band (not the marching band but the organizations are close), there have been DCI members that have marched in TBDBITL before. The candidate/tryout days overlapped with DCI Finals this year, but it may not be so every year; the best step, as you've already mentioned is to contact the band staff and see what options are available.
  8. I will admit, at first, I was one of those people who was like "Why not have scores?" when I heard Wildwood was a 'preview show'. But, as my corps and the other two Minnesota DCA corps have an exhibition performance tonight, I totally understand the value of having a show where there's less competitive pressure and more emphasis on entertaining the audience and getting a read on your program. And a reminder that there are some corps who will not see a DCA judge until August. This is nothing new for us. Just my two cents. Looking forward to seeing you east coast folks in Rochester!
  9. I've seen pictures of Pio..interesting look without the orange and green baldric. Wonder if it has anything to do with the show theme?
  10. The Govies are a great bunch to march with, you won't regret it. Best of luck in 2015, Govies!
  11. If you're looking to just play and not compete, you can always march parades with the Govenaires, we have had several members who only march parades, and aren't part of the competitive corps. A local corps named Chops Inc. had/has several parade groups that march during the summer, but I don't know if those groups will still be present with the return of their competitive field corps. Best bet would be to contact all three corps to see what your options are.
  12. I'm 23. I was first exposed to drum corps back in 2008, and I've marched three seasons since then, one with Pioneer and two with the Govies.
  13. BDB is in the driver's seat as far as Open Class, but I expect SCVC to make it a close one. I know that the corps RIGHT NOW cannot get promoted to World Class, but I wonder if the organization changed the corps' name, I wonder if they could make a move?
  14. I am aware..I was surprised to find that they have a couple locations in Brazil (I'm sure there's no shortage of churrascarias there), even though I'm sure they're an American based chain.
  15. If it weren't too expensive, I'd suggest a DCP get-together. Myself, my girlfriend and two fellow Govenaires are making the trek out to Finals this year.
  16. Self-gratification. I'll be honest, I don't see a point in their life where they will get "knocked down a peg" or criticized after a major accomplishment (like winning a world championship). That would be like a boss chewing out their employee after they successfully completed a major project or did something extraordinary.
  17. I will be at Finals, and I will applaud BD, whether they win, or lose. Why? Because i happened to march in a corps that often played to half-empty stands, and even though it never affected me personally when I performed, I always told myself that I would support all corps, no matter what. That not only means corps like the Blue Saints, but corps like the Blue Devils. I'll probably be that guy who sits and watches all the shows at Prelims. Why boo the corps itself? No matter if you believe that you're preparing them for real life, or that you're making your opinion known since you bought tickets, those members have worked hard all summer, and even if you don't care much for their show, you should at least acknowledge the hard work and sacrifice that those 150 members have made. Make your displeasure known to the judges, or the staff, not the kids. Just my two cents. (EDIT: Now I know the members do contribute to the show.)
  18. This thread is making me hungry for the Brazilian steakhouse in Minneapolis, Fogo de Chao..mmmm....what were we talking about, now? :)
  19. I wonder if BD's programming choices are not only encouraged by the titles, but by the controversy and conversation that they generate? "Any press is good press"
