  1. I never said that YOU said anothing just adding my own statement and experience in the matter.
  2. My band experience has been just the opposite very DCi ish NEVER had to deal with parents...it wasnt allowed and if a kid was dragging their feeet there was another to take their place....maybe I was just lucky because I do hear nightmare stories that I never experienced in all my years. I guess like I said maybe lucky.
  3. Well DUH !!!!...lol.... were also geeky just like bandos ( we dont want to admit it though )...lol...ask anyone NOT in Drum Corps..lol
  4. OMG that didnt sound right after I wrote it..im sorry..was looking at the web site just wishing you luck as far as Curt just mean that Corps director is a big job I think he found that out in the Magic issues when he was thrust into that with all it's issues. Best of luck to all. It's cool to see Thunder coming back
  5. I thought Curt was in Boston....not alot of experience there but good luck to ya
  6. I think the limits to push oneself further than ever before is what people do , especially in a competitive arena. Look at skating with quads, skiing at the Olympics....some crazy stuff. I think we as people always strive for bigger and better BUT I do understand where you are coming from IF your group cant handle something , what is the point.
  7. Bias? sometimes, its human nature, looking around to see what others did? sure human nature also I believe. Butt kissin? for sure , tell me 1 business that doesnt have those. Do most judges care who wins. I dont think so.
  8. I don't think anyone is telling them to change anything. If you want to keep something like spats or white shoes then just make sure you clean those feet. COLOR PRE...WOW I havent hear that phrase in decades. hehehehe I think sometimes we don't like to see a particular change because it rubs out our memory of our own past. Just a thought
  9. The show and corps seem to have moved up the ladder quite nicely so far..YEAH SCV
  10. Takes forever if you remember.. Maybe a formal entrance to the stadium by all ( More traditional ) and big hoopla after scores are announced
  11. You may be right to a point BUt whats entertaing to one prson is not to another
  12. No I wouldnt agree at all with your 1st line WGI World Class is very much adult and dont have the same taste at all. I do agree that most wont care about anything milatary tradition but I would venture to say as many people in drum corps that do thats as many that dont care about it. I will agree the Miley Cyris jusin B music is lame, but hey my parents thought my music was lame also. I would rather hear better music myslef as you do. My question is.. who decides wehats better I guess.. Subjective again....theres that word....lol
  13. lol..we always know people...ughhhhhhhhh
  14. The World Class i nWGI which I was speaking of is actually older then any DCI corps. Several years go the age linit was lifted from World class so the age limit is higher than DCI by quite a bit actually.
  15. WOW, now theres some new comparisons ..lol...great !!! But what about the props and GE...you know the thread..lol Just teasin ,
  16. Applause - o - meters would be fun no doubt a competiton in the stands..lol , but totally dangerous to leave it to an audiance. 1st it's so regional . how many corps have got nothing in way of support one night in a place for whatever reason and the next screams. An audiance can be very bias ( just look at different opinions here but not just bias but applaud good or bad for their group only. I actually taught a BOA finalist band that the band director taught something like 500 parents where to clap and it was a riot in the stands every week...lol
  17. I can only speak for guards at WGI and I can tell you its the opposite. They love i t. So many of the younger guards would love what the World Class finals has.
  18. yup..this..........they need to be used correctly then YES they can ,otherwise they also can hurt....props also dont need a big analysis sometimes. can be used just to create negative space by removing people or create effect by entrances and exits.
  19. if the effect works.........so be it......for me adds to their storuy and production...and it's not like huge props havent been used before..nothing new
  20. oops im sorry for double post...ughhhhhhhhhh
  21. The point Just in my opinion i was making. Not sure where you marched. doesnt really matter BUT you should feel like a rock star , especially at that point in time of the year. It's a reward you will never forget. It's great to hear all that for your show BUT at that point in my eyes its all for just you and for a great job no matter what your show was or what your staff did for you. ALL ABOUT YOU and our thanks. again JMO Congrats and thanks
  22. MIley I agree with ya..lol...as far as the BIG show , all the more reason to party..its the end of the year, its all about them at that point. But I understand where you are coming from I just don't agree but thats cool. Even the closing cermonies at the Olympics is a big party and all about the athletics ( not so serious ). Again JMO no biggie.
  23. I do agree that it takes a huge chance that members will have fun but remember to behave and YES it can get out of control..JMO though I just didnt care for those stuffy retreats. I did my performance for the people, how much more do they have to have....I guess it's a subjective choice just like all of this activity . JMO
  24. You dont have to tell me about kids I teach them every day and I know how self centered they are BUT when is it about them? Those old retreats ( JMO as a past member ) were horrible...couldnt wait for them to be over.
