WOW.." Should have died?" did you really mean it like that. I really don't care for the man myself either but the Cadets are one of the greatest corps ever and a 75 year history. They are the history of the activity as others are also.

Gone are the days im afraid of shoe string budgets. volunteer staffs, free practice facilities, community support. Unfortunately you can't breathe without cash flying out anymore. So hard for so many to stay in business and make NO mistake it is a business and has to be. Nice thought though

Reading back, Scout personally as he/she said doesn't care for woodwinds but believes its a corps choice. I can support that myself.

AHHHHHHHH...a ffew interesting points here 1 Woodwinds came before brass? interesting 2 We have to wait 150 years for more than a few changes or progression? 3 Do the people of yesteryear including myself all have to be dead for it to be ok to have CHANGE?

Ive read so many debates on change on DCP. All the arguments from older fans, newer fans and everthing in between. Why is change considered so bad? The biggest argument I hear is " WELL IT"S NOT DRUM CORPS" SO then I ask " WELL DIDN"T DRUM CORPS CHANGE FROM THE 40s to the 50s to the 60's so on and so on? Then I get the answer " WELL IT DIDN"T CHANGE IT"S FORMAT OR WHAT IT BASICALLY IS" . Now depending who you talk to even letting females in an all male corps was travesty back then and people left their corps and vowed never to return. Same happened with theme and theatrics. Is what makes it drum corps just brass? hmmmmmm if people say yes I just ask why? I think sometimes change just leaves some people behind and that can be scary if what you know is suddenly obsolete. Just a thought.

There were also corps fights in parking lots, corps hating each other etc etc didnt make it right ! It's a new world. Every aspect of life has chaged over the years. Why would drum corps not?

Heard it all before so because of electronics and maybe woodwinds the core is different? Who says? every time there is change the ones who came before ( some ) feel that it will never be as good or cant go on...ahhhhhh take a closer look.

People thought that back in 1972 also. Without the big guns smaller corps just dwindled away. If you dont believe this then how did under 10 corps become what it is and hundreds disappear

HMMMM wonder how the theater owners felt it worked for them from what i hear some places as little as 10 people some up to 30 doesnt seem like alot.

OMG you are so right ! You should deal with some kids in winter guard ..they committ knowing they can't pay and then think they should be able to do drum corps, So many people think they are entitled, that they should be able to do it all. Maybe some can BUT if you can;t life is about choices and you cant have everything. Simply amazing.
