  1. DCA, tear down this wall. Bring Crunchy to the people.
  2. For the record, Crunchy Frog has always had members of every corps, and it always will. It's an independent organization, but unless you make up a rule preventing Crunchy membership, I bet Crunchy Frog will even include some Renegades when it performs again. And people from almost every other corps. You see, Crunchy is about bringing people from different corps together for one night. It's also about bringing FANS to drum corps, Jeff. If you haven't noticed, our activity is not doing so well right now. I, for one, think we should use every tool at our disposal to get fans to DCA. I don't know if Crunchy 2012 is going to happen, but I can promise you that if Crunchy Frog is anywhere near I&E, you are going to have a ton more people there. Also for the record, since you feel obligated to publicly throw me under the bus on behalf of the Renegades Association of California -- My last full season of Renegades was 2008. Blah blah blah. I helped the corps raise thousands of dollars this offseason with Indiegogo campaign, which did not embarrass you, but if you are so embarrassed by the mention of Crunchy Frog that now my name can't be anywhere near the corps now, that is genius. G-E-N-I-U-S. Genius. But Jeff, please don't worry about me personally embarrassing you by any affiliation, because it's not going to happen again in my lifetime. In closing, Crunchy Frog does a lot of good for drum corps, and you should embrace the return of the Frog. That is all.
  3. On behalf of the entire Crunchy Frog organization, I am proud to announce that the Crunchy 2012 opener will be ICE CASTLES, in C minor.
  4. I don't think you can say guards are too "good" .... but I would rather see the return of the huge percussion battery than a guard, any day. Of course, as a drummer ... I'm biased.
  5. Good luck this season, Bushwackers. You showed a lot of character and poise last year. Keep up the good work!
  6. I think they're hoping there is some controversy (seriously). Either way, George and company excel at proving everyone wrong, just when you think their idea will not work. I am still baffled the Cadets pulled off the tune Moondance. lol.
  7. Its not really a record, per se, but I think Cadets taking the DCI trophy back East for the first time in 1983 will be one thing (and show) that stands the test of time. Ditto for everything 1987 SCV. :)
  8. Wow ... do people still wear jackets and pretend they marched somewhere? I think it was a lot easier to pull off before Facebook etc. ...

  12. Thanks, guys. Renegades Indiegogo is rocking ($ 1,807 and counting, on Day 2). This will go a long way towards helping the 2012 Renegades! Editd, becuase apparently this lawyuh cant spel
  13. We will see if it is possible for a drum corps to raise $ 10,000 on the Indiegogo platform by the end of the campaign. Personally, I think it is possible, and we will succeed. Thank you again to anyone and everyone who is helping us promote and/or fund the Indiegogo campaign. It was a lot of fun to produce this with my Renegades pals!
  14. Congratulations Tom. I unilaterally declare myself your associate publicist. :)
  15. Out of the blue, completely unexpected in DCA-land ... TOM PEASHEY ... has written and published a novel!! Check it out -- http://www.amazon.com/Am-Woman-Affair-Chronicles-ebook/dp/B005WNWJSG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1319698201&sr=8-1
  16. That's right. When the Buccaneers lost, DCA and the fans won, and I am cheering from afar very, very loudly. There is "competition" in this competitive activity again.
  17. Congratulations to Minnesota Brass ... your title is the best thing to happen to DCA in several years. DCA is competitive again.
  18. I respectfully think you should learn a little more about the business of music publishing before you call for a compulsory synchronization license. First, your idea would kill the ability of the music publishers and copyright holders to make a living. Second, I don't think you've thought through the implications of this. Here's a (wacky) hypothetical example -- Lets say you just wrote a profoundly great musical composition, and you dedicate the piece to your late grandfather. It means the world to you, and if the best thing you have ever written in your life. Psycho Bob, a hermit in Alaska, decides to make a hard core Nazi porn movie dedicated to extolling the virtues of the Third Reich. No one is going to buy this ridiculous movie, of course, but he's going to put it on You Tube and proceed to rack up ten million views and get mentioned on national news, because it is so controversial. The best musical composition you have ever written is over the opening credits of the Nazi porn movie, and there is nothing you can do about it, because Psycho Bob went online and purchased a compulsory synch license from you for $100. Two days later, Warner Bros. fires you from your job as music composer. Still want your compulsory synch license?
  19. The names of 67% the current DCI top 12 corps start with either the letter B or C. 50% of all of those corps start with the word "Blue. No point or meaning to this post, just random and somewhat amusing trivia ...
  20. And while I'm on the topic, I personally believe that the Reading Buccaneers never losing a show for years and years on end is a substantial reason for the decline in the number of DCA corps and fans. Success is not the Buccaneers fault at all, mind you, but the fact of the matter is that they have realistically turned DCA into anything but a competitive activity. Feel free to slam me, attack me, whatever ... but step back from the attacks for a second and look at where we're at ... and consider the reality of marketing a world championship competitive activity to fans and participants, where the winners have not lost in 8 years or whatever it's been. The turnaround has to start with making DCA competitive again. Not sure how that happens, but it needs to happen, or what's the point of competition? We keep heading in this direction, and it's all going to get worse before it gets better. My .07, not the opinion of anyone but me.
  21. Gil Silva is a very astute business man. People would be wise to listen to him.
