  1. RE: Troopers low percussion scores.... It isn't a judging conspiracy. The battery just isn't very good. And only two vets on the line to add to the issue.
  2. I agree. But how many times are you going to post this? Verbatum.
  3. Regarding Bk and Troopers.... Blue Knights have a very easy show this year, both musically and visually. To me, this explains the slow rise in score for them. They've peaked. Score will continue to rise, but probably not very steeply. Troopers have a harder show than BK, but Troop is still being outperformed by their own show. As skill with the show is gained and improvements to the show are made we should continue to see Troopers climb faster than BK. Just a few weeks ago BK was nearly 9 points ahead of Troop. 5 points of BK's 9 point lead have been chipped away. I'd say that is pretty compelling. In short: Troopers show has more room for improvement than BK...and while I'm not saying Troop will pass BK, I won't be completely shocked if it happens. I hope it happens.
  4. DCI.org scores showing BK with a 74.4 due to -8.60 points in penalty. Surely another typo....
  5. So? I'm not understanding why you think I should have read your post before I made my comment.
  6. Not everyone on DCP reads a whole thread before posting...
  7. Dear OP, As an alumni of The Blue Devils, you lost me at the bold text. You obviously know nothing about being a Blue Devil.
  8. As a couple people have mentioned, watching BD on your computer screen in no way does the show justice. It just isn't possible to see all the details and effects without being there live. I suggest the naysayers go to a show, sit up front and then make your assessment.
  9. I only marched Blue Devils. My high school MUSIC program (not just marching band) had about 50 kids. I learned about drum corps when I was a senior in high school. Watched one live show when I was 17, another live show when I was 18, and auditioned when I was 19. I was fortunate that I was already a good player, so I just practiced my butt of for the marching part and then I was good to go.
  10. Well it didn't take long for someone to seriously answer the question.
  11. Sorry if I wasn't clear....I mean that the shop will sell anyone that particular jacket and embroider whatever you want on it. You know, thats their business. I'm just saying that the jacket they use isn't a nation-wide available in your local mall type of jacket. Just an inexpensive piece used by embroidery shops. Probably helps keep costs down. But since I doubt this guy is able to just drive on down to the shop in Concord, he may do well to call them and see if they can help him find one locally...OR...really, he could order what he wants embroidered and all, straight from them and actually have the same jacket that BD uses. Clear as mud??
  12. *Digs in his closet* Looking at the tag on mine, it says "Auburn Sportswear" However, the jacket is a product supplied by the Contra Costa Embroidery shop in Concord, CA. You might try contacting the store to see about where you can get a blank one. The jacket itself though is pretty much a thick black shirt with a zipper. It does nothing to keep you warm what-so-ever, and you can see through it when you hold it up to the light. Just go to Dickies and buy theirs, it looks virtually identical but is probably a much better quality and then have that embroidered locally.
  13. Agreed, for Blue Devils (or Cadets or Cavaliers etc) to win...it really comes down to having a show design capable of winning. We all know that the Cavaliers, Blue Devils, Cadets, etc can march, spin, and play well enough to win pretty much any given year in terms of performance scoring. But we plain and simple don't know how well a show is going to be designed. We can form an *expectation* based on history of how likely it is that a design team will create a successful show, but that is NOT a prediction. Predicition Threads really should be called *Expectation* Threads. With all that said, performance capabilities for a yet un-fielded top corps is also purely an expectation, just like the design team aspect, however with said perennial top corps, the performance capability expectations are much more reliable when compared to design quality speculation. /digression.
  14. 2010 should have been the first 4-pete. -_- <----- Bitter BD alum. (And no, I didn't march 08, though I would have loved to.)
  15. I auditioned for Blue Devils when I was 19 years old and made it. I had no prior experience. I made sure I was prepared. That's all it takes.
