The ND-ettes captured the World Open, US Open and Greater New York Circuit All-Girl titles in 1970. It seems as though that should at least warrant their inclusion in the list.

That young women who joined St. Rita's Brassmen snare line in 1973 was the legendary Cherokee Merino. She started out with the co-ed Norwalk Hot Shots in the early '60s, spent several years with the all-girl ND-ettes of Bridgeport, Ct. and then became the first girl in Milford Shoreliners' drumline in '70 and '71 prior to joining the Brassmen. Over the years she amassed a truckload of trophies and medals from individual snare competitions, regularly beating all the boys.

Having been a brass player in an all girl corps during the '60s and early 70s I've always had an interest in this topic. The earliest all girl corps that I am aware of is the Bengal Guards from Orange, Texas. They were in existence from 1935 to 1958. Here is a link to their website - http://www.bengalguards.com/
