  1. So SAD! :( They were one of my fav guards this year!! AND last year! Such a great style that will be missed :( Hope to see you all in 2010 after a well deserved rest :) All of us in Boton will be rooting for you
  2. I know the topic was closed but I just wanted to say a few things Many guards have well respected names, such as Sac, Pride, Fantasia, Onyx and so on Most guards started small and grew to the top I believe with names like those you are held to higher standards than the rest, maybe not standards but expectations. Everyone expects prida to be amazing and onyx to be amazing and so on. There for sure has been times guard made finals or got a medal due to their name, like ANY SPORT in this world, there is politics behind it all. BUT sometimes politics are pushed aside. Look at Alter Ego they went years without being an Ind Open class finalist to winning the class. Thier show in 2008 was breathtaking and so emotional, and they had HANDS! They showed WGI we can come in and take it ALL and they were great. Sometimes your name hurts and sometimes it helps, especially depending on the reputation of your staff. Either way we all work hard to show a great product in the end
  3. Ok its that time of year when you hear about world guards not coming back out anymore. So far the list is Corona: who will be missed more than anything The Knights: Another well respected guard gone Zydeco: Apparently this was their last year as well anyone else? Anyone coming back???
  4. FIU should have won the silver Medal in A class.....they were beautiful All thanks to a beautiful woman named Lillie Mansfield HS, TX – Modern Dance Macabre – Wearing black uniforms with white swirls and the floor resembling a rotted tree this ensemble wowed those in attendance. The opening rifle statement was fantastic. This ensemble moves extremely well. The purple silk feature towards the end of the program was executed wonderfully. One question though was with the program they were performing to utilize yellow silks? Also, the ensemble started out performing and ended in the character very well, however during the middle of the show, it seemed to lose steam. The program was brought to an ending as the creepy crawly performers slid into slits in the tarp to go back underground. GREAT JOB!!!! Americas HS, TX – Joy – Performing on a pastel colored tarp in elegant white uniforms this ensemble gracefully took the floor. This moving performance started with a beautiful blue silk statement. The salmon / gold silk statement performed with the rifles was executed nicely. The rifle duet kicked in and transitioned into a yellow silk feature again, was executed nicely. The show transitioned from the yellow silk statement into the beautiful movement sequence brought this elegant program to a close. This group moves wonderfully. Well Done!!! Friendswood HS, TX – Celestial Voices – The opening of the program was elegantly performed as the soloist strolled gently towards the back with the harp playing gently. The guard underneath a white sheath fabric made their way out onto the blue tarp covered in clouds. The rifle solo was transitioned into a duet wonderfully performed. The pink flag ensemble into the ripple was executed nicely. As the program came to a close, the harpist resumed as the soloist made her way back to the white sheath fabric and the giant cloud swallowed her. Great Job!!! DeSoto HS, TX – Amazing Women – This small ensemble took the floor on a simple black tarp, in elegant uniforms. This group moves extremely well. Performing a program about amazing women, each performer exhibited elegant moves into the white silk ensemble. The only concern, was with this beautiful program was hearing “out” being yelled. The ending white silk feature had a hint of silver, blue and seafoam green as the program ended with a well performed movement statement. Nicely done! Passaic HS, NJ – Picnic Antics – Taking the floor with a giant picnic in the back, and looking like ants on the prowl, this ensemble dazzled the audience. The opening sabre statement, which led into an ensemble of watermelon silks being introduced was executed nicely. The silk exchange with the rifle toss was performed nicely. The ending of the show brought silks containing different foods on them such as Reese Cups, sandwiches, and such and the ensemble executed the ending perfectly. Well Done!! Croatan HS, NC – I Believe - This ensemble took the floor in simple black uniforms on a floor that spanned a world layout. The opening movement statement was wonderful which transitioned into the opening blue silk solo. This led into a perfectly executed ensemble moment using silks. The blue silk ripple was complimented by the rifle ripple and ensemble. Towards the end of the program white silks were featured with different country flag motifs on them. The program concluded with a beautiful movement statement. Well Done!! Plymouth Canton HS, MI – Taking the floor on a sealike tarp, with a huge sail in the back right, and hint of gold on the floor this ensemble executed their program. The rifle feature with the addition of silk quintet was performed nicely. Overall this ensemble moves well and executed the program extremely well. Great comeback in finals. Nicely Done!! Francis Howell North HS, MO – As She Waits – Taking the floor on a pentagon shaped brick tarp, with a window in the center and a performer waiting, this ensemble gave quite a performance. In all honesty, I was so wrapped up in watching the emotional performance take place there was no time for notes. The opening movement statement is awesome. The various silks they utilized had various colors of “window” on them. This was definitely one of the most emotional shows of the weekend. Great Job!!! Homestead HS, CA – Vector Blue – Blue velvet boxes outlined the blue squares on the tarp. The full body blue uniforms fit perfectly, and the performers faces were silver. This program moved from the get go. The opening movement statement was fantastic which led into a blue silk and sabre statement. As the music progress the end of the program produced gold silks which went wonderfully against the blue. WOW can this ensemble move. Well Done!! Greenfield Central – The Dash Between – In five years of winterguard competition this ensemble made a huge impact making finals. Taking the dash covered floor, in elegant uniforms, this ensemble gave perhaps their most emotional performance of the season. I think the shock and awe of the whole weekend hit this unit as they entered the arena. They did experience performance issues in the first ninety seconds of the program again, recovery was outstanding, then it was business as usual. Nailing the flag exchange from the back to the front, the sabre soloist into duet, great job. Performing to music from Claire de Lune and a poem narrating how one would want to be remembered for their “dash.” This was another one of those three emotional performances from finals groups. Great Job young ladies!!! Lyman HS, FL – Citizen of the Planet – Performing to a soundtrack that was moving from beginning to end, taking the floor on a compass like directional tarp, and donning elegant uniforms, this ensemble came to play. The opening rifle feature was outstanding. The great transition into the green / gold flag statement was executed nicely. This ensemble also utilized their hair very well. The sabre and purple silk feature was magical. The ending orange silk transitioned into a musical choreographed movement ending. GREAT JOB!! Kokomo HS, IN - Sposason Disprezzata – This ensemble gave it all and left it all on the floor. Taking the floor on a multi rust / copper color floor in simple but yet matching uniforms, this ensemble took the floor. From the performer executing an opening headstand in the back right, to the outstanding male performer, this group couldn’t have put on a better program if they tried. From the ensemble moments to the individual moments there is no doubt left of the talent ability of this group. From the seafoam green silk ensemble to the ending white silk ensemble, to the ending kiss and movement statement, this unit executed their program. Great Job!! Byrnes HS, SC – Hometown – This ensemble showed of their touring season represented by signage of cities they have performed in, of course ending with Dayton, OH. The unit had suitcases representing their travels. Unfortunately, I was involved the captivation of the performance I neglected to take notes. I do recall this unit couldn’t do much wrong, and they move very well. Nicely Done!! Spanish River HS, FL – Sunday in the Park – Taking a different spin on Claire de Lune, this ensemble took us on a stroll through the park on a Sunday afternoon. The tarp resembled a park. Wearing maroon uniforms and starting with miniature colored umbrellas this ensemble performed wonderfully. The opening yellow silk statement led into individual sabre moments that were perfectly executed. The ending sunset style silks led the audience into the sunset and the close of the program as we experienced a Sunday in the Park. Great Job!! North Syracuse Central HS, NY – Why ? – Taking the floor, which was covered by a giant question mark, and performing to the music of Annie Lennox, this ensemble made an emotional connection. Honestly I was mesmerized by this performance and couldn’t look away long enough to write anything down. This ensemble moved gracefully and executed what they were asked to perform. The most amazing moment though, was the ensemble movement sequence around the question mark, ending on the period at the end. WOW WOW WOW….This was in my opinion the most emotionally charged program of, if not the A class, the entire weekend. GREAT JOB!!! This ensemble definitely deserved the Gold Medal.
  5. Diamante set no standards as all of their tricks came from Corona in years past. Speak with members on Corona, all those tricks corona has done. Not saying Diamante didn't do them well, those standards have been set from Crown guard and Corona as far back at 2002, they always have the best book NEi has brought the level of acting to the activity. I truely believe their show was not a BIG arena show. It was more personal and intimate and their acting and performance was the best out there that weekend. Everything they did had a beginning, middle, and end and it was just amazing. Plus being the only world guard to nail a 7 on sabre, and Fahrenheit being the only ensemble world guard to nail a rifle 7 its pretty impressive. Corona, and Nei set new standards and Aimachis boys from Pride never danced that good in Pride they got amazing!!
  6. I know and iam sorry I am sorry I posted it twice. I thought it would get lost in the Ind world rankings post. I think Alter Ego was great, I just am confused at the judges choices. It annoyed me. I'm sure everyone was annoyed with soMe outcome, this was mine
  7. For an A class guard...yes Not for Ind World
  8. Interplay was great, cute show, should have been higher I am at a loss for words. Why did Fahrenheit World not make finals? I would have had them in 10th. Their prelims show was so emotional, strong, powerful, clean, and they proved they wanted to be on that floor Saturday night. I was horrified to see Sacred Heart out there with that A class show, Diamante was good but no way near as good as Fahrenheit, and for once Fahrenheit was much better than Premonition this year. Their Open Guard had a great run as well, and they didn't make finals either. Both guards missed finals by 1 point from World, 1.1 by Open and both guards got 18th place Both guards also got the same score in Tamoa Finals Something is starting to seem rigged. WGI has lost their minds. Also Warren Central was better than Flanagan and Logan. Notice how Aimachi jumped up to 3rd in finals. Nei lost a medal, hmmmmmmmmm something sounds fishy. And Alter Ego even being in finals? They got 21st in equipment in prelims, this activity was started by flags rifles and sabres, they were 21st in equipment yet place in finals? Aimachi should have been 3rd in prelims, and Corona should have won the gold with their standard setting amazing show, the audience was in tears, and SCV was great but their work was the easiest book in the top 15 I am so confused with WGI.....did anyone else catch Fahrenheits Amazing prelims performance? somoene explain please

  11. Apparently at their local FFCC Championships, the director of Fahrenheit Open and World took a severe fall and shattered his hand, wrist, and arm. I heard the news but wasn't sure if it were true until it was posted as an update on their website. www. Fahrenheitguard.Org It talks about what happened and where they go from here. Rumor has it both guards rehearsed as normal on Sunday for 10 hours, and both guards had intense powerful rehearsals. I hear the members are fighting every step of tell way, doing it for themselves, and for their director who has put so much time and effort into building a wonderful organization. I wouldn't be surprised to see Both Fahrenheits in Open and World finals this weekend. A true program has a family quality and that's what Fahrenheit seems to be about. I've only seen them On Fan Network but both guards seem to be a class act and strong. Best of luck Fahrenheit, we are pulling for you all Amy Cadets St.Anns
  12. NEi FIU Fahrenheit Open and World both great Corona Flanagan Interplay Salem Blue Lyman HS Avon
  13. A class is so hard to predict But I do love Salem Blue and FIU, they are both beautiful shows
  14. 1. NEi - Amazing, Beautiful, Effortless, Performance 100%, the top guard in this activity by far 2. SCV - I personally do not care for the show, its OK, but I am not flying out of my seat 3. Corona - Its their year, they deserve it so much. The show is great, they set new standards which is a world class thing to do. 3. AImachi - Never seen them, but I am sure they will be great 5. SAC - Its an OK show I am just obsessed with 2007 and nothing since has compared to it, seen them live 4 times 6. Onyx - Their best year by far, I love this show 7. Zydeco - A step up from last year, but the competition is so hard this year, congrats on a constant success 8. Braddock - a GREAT year for them, but I do hate their nding flag feature, its a bad stamp on the end of an amazing program 9. Crown - Ehhhh I would have them lower but it seems WGI likes them, 10. Knights - Same show as lasy year, even same moves and equipment, i believe they will get 10th, but don't think its appropriate. Talented kids tho. 11. Black Watch - Ive seen this show live several times, I am not a huge fan of the show, but the kids r talented 12. Premonition - A crowd pleaser, thats all I can say. 13. Alter Ego - Seen this show live several times, it started good, but hasn't grown much. A ton of talent tho. I think they peaked early. 14. Fahrenheit - This guard has been fighting all season look at the Fan network videos. I am rooting for them, their rifle line is amazing! People seem to leave them out of the top 15 but I am sure they are fighting til the end. 15. Sacred Heart / Diamante - I would put Diamante in the spot over Sacred heart. They look like an A guard, but they are scoring well. They have talent, but the show is not a world class show. Their staff should look this over next season. Diamante is better but still clueless on what their show is. Just my personal opinions, please don't get upset. Everyone has their opinions. I think every guard is great, bu this year seemsto be the strongst year for WGI World Class, it is every world guards BEST year. Good luck to ALL!!!
