  1. Hi again, I've got another question to trouble you peopla at DCP with. After browsing this forum, watching videos and speaking with people, I understand that there are some differences among different drum corps when it comes to marching style, teaching philosophy etc. I was wondering if someone knolwedgeable could tell me a little about it?
  2. Another finish should not have any impact, as much as mouthpieces will. I'm more curious about how the lacquer (if it's lacquer) will keep its condition trough the season. My own experience says silver plate is better, but norwegian brass bands never use gloves. . .
  3. Today, I was going to subscribe to the dci fan network, but I couldn't find a place for that. The only thing I found was: "Drum Corps International Fan Network Expiration date is: 4/30/2009" Does that mean that I'm too late? Enlighten me please...
  4. I first discovered drum corps when I was browsing trough a thread on a Norwegian brass band forum. One of the members there had posted a link to a youtube video with parts of the Blue Devils 2006 show. I was blown away; it was awesome! I found some more videos and my interest grew. (come to think about it, copyright violatin is to blame for showing me drum corps ) Then I discovered Blast!, got myself some dvds, and started dreaming. I came in contact with some musicians from FBF who were studying in Norway, and they recommended that I did it. I've finally made a rough plan for my life a few years ahead, and I can start planning my own drum corps experience. To do that, I needed to know more, and for such purposes, nothing beats an internet forum I'm now one of a few people in Norway who owns a marching baritone (I know of two more in addition to a brass band). That is my story in short
  5. Oh, one more question: In terms of preparation, is marching in a military corps help me towards marching in drum corps?
  6. Hi again, First of all, thank you very much for all your replies and PMs. You have all really blown my expextations for what kind of replies I would get! The last two days have been really amazing for me, and I've learned a lot of what I need to do I've also got messages for a few corps to play with them. Of these, Pioneer tickled my interest the most, as i have some connection to the Field Band Foundation. In addition, they had place for me this year, so I can get some experience already this year. I have not yet decided wether or not to go. It will probably boil down to wether or not time and money is on my side.
  7. Hello everyone, this will be my first post here. I'm going to present myself here because it's closely related to this topic. I'm a 18 year old musician from Norway, with euphonium as my main instrument. I discovered drum corps a while ago, and I'm just falling more and more in love with it, so now, I seek the help and knolwedge of this forum to realise my biggest dream: Marching with a DCI world class corps. The (main) question is: How should I do this? -Do most drum corps allow foreigners to march with them? Or do I have to make a special arrangement? -Auditions: Considering where I live, I suppose I will only be able to meet up physically for the audidion of one corps. As I want to max out my chances of getting in, I would like to audition for more corps trough videos. Is that possible? -Plane tickets are pricey and will probably limit my possibilities to attend all camps held during spring. How much understanding can I get for that? -Are there any legal issues? -How should I prepare? My musical level is pretty good, but my marching skills is somewhat limited. I suppose I need to practise marcing a lot, and build up some more strenght in my upper body, at least. . . -Something I haven't considered? That's a lot of questions, but I hope you can help me (I apologize in advance for any typing errors; I wrote this a little late in the night)
