  1. Haha I actually met him. His name is Herbert. He's really nice and humble about his abilities!
  2. Soo next week I plan to fly back home, and of course I want to bring my guard equipment so I can practice. Unfortunately nowadays airport security considers pretty much anything and everything a possible weapon. Either from past experience, or just your knowledge, do you think that I'll have any issues flying with my equipment or should I leave it?
  3. A little off topic I know, but I wish you were my grandma lol (although I love my own, can't I have two?)
  4. Thank you, and please don't let his become another old school versus new generation type thing. Each faction had it's good points and bad points, they just vary according the people that you're talking to.
  5. In some cases dresses can be a little much (for both genders really) and can get in the way. Overall of the uniform is part of the show's overall motif, and isn't too overbearing than I'm fine with it. Now are we going to just bomb the whole dress idea because a guy is wearing it? We shouldn't, but it's going to happen. It defintely gets more attention than a girl in a dress for obvious reasons. If you don't like the uniform than hopefully there is some amazing equipment work/movement that will distract you. :) It definitely work last night for me at DCI S.E. I do disagree with the comment about designers. Designers spend alot of hardwork and dedication to come up with these ideas. Are they all good? no, but we should at least respect them for it. Not everyone gets it right 100% of the time. If it works, all praises to the mighty design good, if doesnt then see what you can change to make it better. Designers have to find the happy medium between adequately visually representing theme/concept of the program while keeping the functionality of the uniform. We would all love to see some Cirque-esque uniform from time to time, but alot of their costumes are a bit too elaborate and restrict body movement way too much and we all know how important body carriage, etc. is to the guard activity. In reference to the regional bigotry comment: Come one guys, we are all one big drum corp nation, under one drum major, indivisible with plenty of tan lines for all
  6. Typically when does a corp arrive at their housing site? Woodland high school is right up the street from me and I defintely want to see the Bluecoats.
  7. Of course it does, which is why I'm saying adding an actual point deduction in the guard caption would be pretty redudant.
  8. Woah, you act as if they don't work there butts off to catch 7's and 8's (tosses). Even if there isn't a penality regarding dropped equipment, no one likes or revels in dropping equipment. The performers take this extremely personally, but they have to keep going with the show. Secondly, they clean and try to perfect their respective work for the sake of the show and their performance. When we dont catch our tosses it's the equivalent of a percussionist dropping their stick/mallet, or a horn player. It's definitely NOT intentional. Unless it's written in the show
  9. Regardless of the politics, I still love watching both guards perform. I hope they continue to have a great season.
  10. Yeah I bought one and now I wish I would've bought a better rifle.
  11. Oh I was, but I'm going to college in Ohio so I'm defintely looking for guards up there. I loved Northgate though, one of my friends march there.
  12. All of this is exactly what I told her! She's just really closeminded, poor girl, it's really her parents fault. Unfortunately in my area I felt I was really the only guy interested in guard, and my band director couldn't find anyone to replace as head drum major so I've been doing that for two years, instead of what I really want to do. I tried to start a winterguard at my school, but to no avail. People weren't really interested, and our fall guard director was too busy anyway. =/
