After nearly a year of deliberation and planning, the Program Staff of Silver Streak (World Class) is finally ready to announce the new direction that the corps will be taking for DCPI Seasons XV through XXI. Silver Streak's next seven productions will be based on the large literary work The Dark Tower by Stephen King. Each of the next seven seasons will be devoted to exploring the happenings of a volume of this seven-volume series. We are proud to announce the Musical selections for DCPI Season XV! 3. The members and staff of NEOMAO would like to thank you for your efforts in compiling this information for everyone. NEOMAO is not looking too bad...Silver Streak is currently 6th in World Class standings, Bronze Star is 13th in Open Class and Titanium is 14th in A Class.
  4. The Louisville show was a big one for the NEOMAO corps. Silver Streak (World) pulled off their first victory of the season--and only second ever victory! They took top honors in GE (3 way tie) and had a strong musical program to back that. Bronze Star had the day off. Titanium (A) won a respectable second place, taking high visual. The members and staff of NEOMAO salute all corps that competed at the Louisville show and all other shows so far for their dedication to the marching arts.
  5. I couldn't help but notice that Teal Sound was missing from the Caption Selections.

  10. I saw no mention of Corps from Ohio, as both of mine are. *scratches head*
  11. The Season for both of the NEOMAO Corps has come to an end. Much progress was made in some areas, while in others significant opportunities still exist. The final results for the season: Silver Streak Silver Streak began the season a bit slower than their inaugural season last year, but quickly fell into stride and improved their placement from 33rd in DCPI-XII to 19th overall this season with a score of 92.535. This year's program was considerably more challenging than the inaugural year show, featuring all original music this year. The Corps was pleased to make it past Prelims and into the Quarterfinals. Bronze Star This being an inaugural season for the Open Class Bronze Star, the entire season was filled with difficulties. We started off very slow, and never managed to gain significant momentum despite several major re-writes in the Brass and visual portions of the show. The Corps placed 30th overall, with a score of 85.800. The productions for the DCPI-XIV season are currently in the planning stages for both corps. NEOMAO is also pleased to announce that they will be fielding an A Class Corps in DCPI-XIV, which will be called Titanium. Program announcements, as well as an audition camp schedule, will be made in the forthcoming weeks. The Instructors and Staff of NEOMAO wish to congratulate all Corps for a spectacular season, and we look forward to seeing all of you on the competition field in the DCPI-XIV Season!
  12. Silver Streak posts their first victory...well, ever--edging out Kadence by a scant 0.035 at the Troy, New York show even though they did not win any caption awards. This propels Silver Streak to 16th in overall World Class standings (17th with weighted scores). Way to go! Bronze Star continues to improve, receiving their highest score yet at the Troy, NY show. Although they continue to hover near last place at most shows, they are currently 16th in the Open Class standings (18th with the weighted scores). NEOMAO has improved in great strides this year, both corps making significant progress. If participation holds, NEOMAO will be fielding an A Class corps for Season XIV.
  13. Overall, the member corps of the NEOMAO have had a very good week. Improved across the board, partially compensating for the slow start that Bronze Star has had this season. At the Edmonton AB show, Silver Streak finally broke the 70 point barrier scorewise, coming in with a 71.895 and a 7th place overall finish, riding in on the strength of their 3rd place visual program. This score puts NEOMAO's World Class corps in 29th place overall, a jump of 4 places from the previous week. Bronze Star had a very good week! They began the week in dead last on every caption and overall score, but thanks to their 69.930 3rd place finish at the Sherbrooke QUE show, they are now 16th in Open Class.
  14. At the onset of DCP Season XIII, NEOMAO has had some minor successes...as well as serious disappointments. On the plus side, Silver Streak (world class) has started their second season somewhat stronger than the first, which is an encouraging sign. At the January 8 show in Massilon, OH they placed 7th with a score of 64.535. At their next competition in Columbus, OH they did not fare quite as well placementwise, making 11th; they managed to increase their score to 65.505, almost a full point improvement. The members and staff have worked very hard, and we're hoping to build upon the successes of our first season with this year's production entitled Cyborg: The Union of Man and Machine, featuring all original music. On the down side, Bronze Star (open class) did not fare very well in their first two competitons. At their first show in Massilon, OH they managed to score only 58.170, putting them in last place for that show. At the Columbus show the next day, not only were they last again but their score actually fell to 57.005. Each of those two shows, Bronze Star finished nearly 3 points behind the next highest corps. Obviously, we have some serious work to do to get our scores out of the gutter. This year's production is entitled Scenes from the Emerald City, featuring music from the movie "The Wizard of Oz" and the musical "Wicked." The staff and members of NEOMAO look forward to continued growth, and wish all competitors the best of luck.
  15. From my perspective, the most memorable DCI show I've seen was a performance at my high school in 1992, just about a week or so before the championships in Madison, WI. There were some good performances, ones that I liked a lot and I thought were under-rated. Of course, this was before I realized that they didn't score based on crowd appeal, but on actual technical merit. I really liked Magic of Orlando's "Music for a Darkened Theater"--gotta love a corps that plays the theme from Tales from the Crypt. There was also Academie Musicale that did a really good Division II performance. Madison Scouts were there, doing the second year of "City of Angels". But I gotta say, the performance that really stuck in my mind was Star of Indiana's "Americal Variations". I still remember, at the very end of that show when they did a full-blown push of the national anthem. I was on the 40 yard line, about halfway up. The hairs on the back of my neck literally stood up, and they still do every time I hear or watch that performance. I was hooked.
