I just play the .mp4 in Chrome and cast the tab to the chromecast to the TV. Been doing that for years. Then you can just upload it to your google drive and cast the files from there. I don't understand going to physical media at all anymore.

Aren't all their admin staff volunteer too (including the director)? I don't think that's very common among the top corps these days.

Staff have connections everywhere. There area also alumni who marched in multiple corps. The corps is not "young", actually it's their 55th year. They just haven't been well known. I don't know of any affiliations with Freelancers or Commodores, not that it isn't possible.
