  1. lol - that seems to be happening a bit - but we'll need to see if that trend continues tonight and into the weekend somethings gotta give!
  2. audiences AND the activity used to be much different in 1980 what's amazing as far as "creativity and change" is to watch that 1980 winning show and then flip just 4 years ahead to 1984 and watch that one - crazy amount of "change" in just a few short years! by 1990 the 1980 activity was extremely changed - and by 2000 we had Bb instruments and it bears a lot more similarity to today than that 1980 show does... the pace of change has really slowed down in some ways (with electronics obviously the big game changer since) -- heck even "modern" body movement was in the activity in a major way by Star 1992
  3. some very nice drum footage from yesterday - really cleaning up nicely https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCJrSbyIbbM
  4. some of these videos are just amazing - BD charting some new territory this year, and such outstanding instruction and support
  5. My suggestion is: HAVE FUN!!! The shows are all very different and many are "creative" in nature so if you don't like one show you'll probably love the next lol
  6. just checked the show's fb page - no delayed announced their or on the corps sites so I'd say that it is starting on time https://www.facebook.com/DciInTheHeartland have fun at the show - let us know what you think!
  7. Nope - make any assumptions you want. Just noticed a trend both last night and tonight of folks predicting the gap a little strange based on prior scores I want Coats to WIN it all - so don't misunderstand my intentions. Next weekend Coats gap with BD will tell a lot about that.
  8. facing the field most visual guys favor the left side of the 50... but there are exceptions 45-50 yard line up about 80% is probably best in most stadiums and shows - but at LOS I like the 400s which are sort of middle-high
  9. also I really enjoyed Academy the other night, hoping their score continues to improve - what a breath of fresh air!
  10. Crown is closer to the Coats than the Coats are to the Cadets... at least last night, and that was with the somewhat precedent setting GE 1 score... I guess it will be interesting to see if that continues or Coats move closer to Cadets
  11. Cadets 93.4 Coats 91.7 Crown 91.2 BK 88. Crossmen 81.5 Oregon 77.2 Academny 74.65 Cascades 70.25 What do I win? lol
  12. Ballet Sacra (warmup) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8MoL1eHs3c#t=51
  13. I'd love to see them take it - but frankly RIGHT NOW I don't see anyone topping BD except Cadets and I don't see anyone behind Cadets topping them. So IMO it's a race for 3rd unless things start changing quickly.
  14. Thanks for sharing the perspective from the actual show... first I'm hearing about it I do think "certain types" of programs sell a bit better in Texas than others..
  15. that's a cool idea - they've been very quiet about the direction they are heading - I do like that idea of fast drill against the slow music. Almost cries "optimism" and "future" and "promise" in a way
  16. I totally agree -- Short Ride in a Fast Machine is still my favorite Cadet tune EVER I wish they'd do more of this... or maybe some British Brass Band type stuff... time for Cadets to do something very different, very very modern next year To use your own tag line, it's time they ZAG again. I own that tshirt by the way :)
  17. I agree for sure. I don't think the show is "groveling" now - and I don't want any added
  18. OR people are just proud of our country and the importance it holds in the world... even now I'm not one buying the "USA is nothing special" being shoved down our throats these days Cadets show is overtime - they will make a few short cuts, speed up some tempo and add on the new/different ending... I doubt the "spread out all over the field" and come back together portion will survive...
  19. I was just curious. Geez. I guess I should talk about taco bell.
  20. I disagree. Crown's rotating cube/prism / Cadets dissolving company front / Cavaliers DNA helix / SCV "Van" - Guard / I can think of many
  21. I wonder where Crown is "mentally"? Having just won, backs against the wall a little bit at this stage... At some point you go from being surprised you lose, to getting angry about it, to starting to expect it... And Coats - wonder if they REALLY believe they could win it all? And Cadets - tough run on Saturday night - really flat and some bad ensemble tears - and the staff is throwing more changes at them - sometimes that corps has a tendency to get angry as well... The mental thing always interest me. We are all people and all have hopes and wishes... I wonder if all the corps REALLY like their shows - or whether some blame is assigned by this point in the season It's an interesting 2 weeks about to unfold. The gap between BD & Cadets may open back up as Cadets make some pretty big changes and additions. Will Cadets cut the gap back by East and mount a serious challenge going into Indy? Or are the stuck in 2nd? Crown - how do they respond to their fifth place finish the other night? And what's SCV's ceiling? Do they have one? I see it as third, but probably fourth. Crown? They seem to be out of the running to repeat, but a lot can change in 2 weeks and 5 days And is 12th the Crossmen? Or is that still fluid? Where do Cavaliers fit in? Can they bust into the 2nd group and make the 3-5 tussle a 3-6th tussle? Lots of dynamics at play right now - including some very long drives the next couple days - out to OK and then back East. So short rehearsal days...
