  1. Watching surf! You know what this show needs? Trampolines!
  2. not sure of the last time you saw Spirit - I was so impressed by their performance and improvement Sunday in Chester, PA. Amazing growth in the program and the crowd loved it!!!
  3. I liked Legends show a lot, nice program and good sound from them!
  4. I'm using the hi-cam - this is not massive stadium, so view is just far back enough to get most of the field
  5. Nice view at the stadium with the lake behind the field and the city skyline behind that! I now remember being there for I think a Star of Indiana sponsored contest about 20 years ago.
  6. Also for those of you with FN subscriptions this is a LIVE EVENT - streaming starts at 7pm EDT for non subscribers the stand alone price is $19.95 http://dci.thefannetwork.org/
  7. ok - so back on topic how much would it turn the world of drum corps on its head if BD lost to Coats tonight? I would love it (nothing against BD who I love and admire greatly - it would just be a mind exploding event) My actual prediction is a BD win of about 0.8-1.8 pt. spread // time will tell
  8. they are already programmed into the drill - you will see at the end of part 2 for example the brass line is down front on both sides - they kneel down behind the judge block wall and then stand back up to go into part 3. I assume that's when they would be changed. The guard is similar - either going in behind the stage or to the back yard line allowing time to strip off the layered uniforms I imagine the cummerbund are velcro and two sided to simplify this switch... Should be a very cool effect
  9. Cadets NOT putting in the uniform and cumberbund changes for tomorrow night. Which I find interesting... Those are being saved
  10. Should be. But that could change tonight if :gasp: BD 3 points Coats...
  11. Odd. I was just at the Chester PA show Sunday night - last minute decision on my part so I went alone I was literally talking to folks in front of me, behind me and down the row. We all became fast friends Maybe it's more a midwest thing? Not sure, just not my experience Hope things change for ya! George.
  12. the marketplace now provides free webhosting of images, video etc... and all those services are also free to the end user - twitter, facebook, instagram, shutterfly etc.. so that's where the perception of "cheap" comes in. It's an expectation now.
  13. ok cool. I know Cadets are busily adding a bunch of things today and tomorrow ahead of tomorrow nights date with BD. I'm sure Coats are just as busy. Crown is practicing like crazy this week. I honestly think by next week some of the placements will swap and the gaps will open up..
  14. darn people here are sooo touchy... there is nothing funny about your claim. The sentence was just funny in that it seemed contradictory even though I got and agreed with what you were sayin..
  15. rehearsal vids are usually ok, performance videos are a big no-no
  16. Irving - do you believe Cadets could take it all at this time? well - then they are less than 1 point ahead of Coats. Therefore coats are in the mix. That's all I'm saying and I don't really need to "wait" to say it. Coats are the real deal.
  17. Reddit isn't a major impact That said the internet is changing and DCP hasn't
  18. Um. How to put this... ? Like most things in life the truth lies in the middle. No - their show isn't "broken" - but yes, it needs some major revamps. As does Cadet's frankly. Advantage: BD
  19. Of course Coats could take it all. They are within a Cadets and a half point of Crown. They have a top 3 drumline, a top 3 guard and a top 3 or 4 brassline with THE Show of 2014.
  20. lol... Some additional thoughts on the corps last night Spirit - vast improvements since I saw them in Chambersburg - all captions much stronger. I understand they are adding a 30' tree as the visual focal point. You can already see how the entire program is written around it, so its addition will really help clarify. Brass has a very nice sound and the audience around me really enjoyed the program. Guard is effective and enjoyable to watch, adding to the program with class. Horn sound is very nice, full, balanced. Percussion is both well-featured and well-integrated. Overall their strongest offering in years and one I'd expect to grow and grow until finals! Boston - obviously a very talented corps which is working hard. You get the feeling watching the program that the membership isn't "loving it" -- just from an energy perspective. Feet are the toughest we've seen from them - and in spots they are all over the place. Tempos very challenging. The visual design is an issue. I'd love to see the guard lose the "animal mask" after the first tune -- once the "character" is established... this would allow them to better emote and engage with the audience, and frankly, allow them to see better. The ballad solo was lovely - but gets lost all the way in the corner. The entire ballad should be restaged, including eliminating that compact block that marches into the corner. You're giving the audience some lush melody and it's mitigated with the current staging. Percussion section is very talented and I like the book - however again, visual staging isn't the best. Put the line front and center a few times. All in all this is a tough program that has grown. I'd imagine by finals they'll place 10-8 and wonder what could have been with a different design. Bluecoats are in the big dance. Make no mistake - this corps could win it all. I get the distinct feeling they will finish 2nd in Indy - the program is/will be extremely well performed and extremely popular - however they will likely run up against BD or Cadets for the crown - and both staffs have such experience in that situation. Reminds me a bit of Crown 2009 when the Grass is Always Green program came oh so close. The guard is much stronger than I remembered them only a week ago, however the staging is a little far back from the audience for most of the program... Overall this is THE show of 2014 and it could very well carry them all the way to a championship. The crowd ate it up and lept to their feet with a massive ovation, roaring approval! Crown, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, has an issue of focus in the program. I think it would be improved dramatically by trimming back a bit on the sequential tosses by the guard, the crap on the field, and the three ? "mosh pits" in the middle of the field with the brass & guard. Eliminate one of those, shorten the second tune / percussion break and speed the intro to the ballad and the corps has a real shot of repeating as champs. Brass is very good, guard is once again strong & percussion is MUCH improved. Well done Crown. Cadets are the best overall corps right now - at least until they meet up with BD. Very balanced. The program is a master class in "focus" - the audience knows exactly where to watch and listen throughout. Multiple tempos and fantastic features, a wonderful brass sound and fantastic percussion once again. The issue with this program is a lack of "wow" moments. I'd suggest they shorten a bit of part 1 & part 2 and add to the end. They need a few wow moments in drill, as the program gets a little dull. You are obviously drawn in by the focused design and wonderful execution - but the drama is missing. Cadets are masters at tweaking programs and it will be interesting to see where they take this one. Could be all the way to #11, time will tell!
  21. Cadets parade tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2vt7BpIhLE Cadets parade standstill (Rocky Point): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_Z8RodceDA
  22. I agree that while Cadets are "my fav" always, the corps top to bottom were very enjoyable and impressive. The top 3 tonight - wow - amazing!
  23. agreed. Obvious improvements from the weekend prior when I had seen them I do think they need to shorten some segments in the middle of the show and do some adding on at the end - the program is a few "wow" moments short of a gold medal quality show right now... Brass was fantastic & drums really solid. Guard is a big step forward from LY - so it's just up to them to tweak and perfect an already great program
