Do something different. This ain't working. Another big swing and miss in design.

Feels like watching something slowly bleed to death. I'm not sure Scouts can be revived. My beloved Scouts are in some serious dark times right now.

Already seeing the "quit complaining and come volunteer" and "quit complaining and donate". That is getting tiresome. I donate what I can but I can't leave my job to hop on the road. And at what point do I no longer donate because the product being given the kids to use is less than par. I understand the need to keep up with the modern activity, but it feels like they've gone off the deep end trying to be something different and new....and it's just not working.

Yea...I've watched videos of some of the other shows and Scouts design seems to be left behind. I can't seem to pinpoint exactly what it is but it feels just generally weaker, less sophisticated, less exciting. I'm sure it's just me being a dino and expecting a show that the drum corps world talks about positively and one that forces you to scream and cheer. Once again Scouts design has missed that.

Watched show on youtube. Costume looks better from far back but still wish for something that looks more identifiable as the Scouts. Some cool drill moments and some cool music moments...but I don't understand what it's all supposed to mean. Female soloist was great but what is her role for the theme? Maybe it was just too far to see everything but I have no idea. Big prop but why way to the left? And why doesn't it get used often for drill and horn or drum staging. Seems Scouts always have some prop but it gets shoved to the side. It's like it's there as a requirement they don't want to use. Anyway. Not a fan of what I saw. Show does nothing for me. No WOW moments. Nothing that really just grabs hold.

I want Madison Scouts to remain all male but I fear that a poorly designed show and controversial costume choice will be used as reasoning for going co-ed. I think another failure to make Top 12 will do just that.

From pictures, uniforms looked better on field than original pics. Not a good start score wise...barely above Colts and way behind upper echelon. That kind of low-level slotting early will be tough to overcome.

Oh boy....that is laughable. I really have no words to how comical this looks.

It was on a personal friend's page. Cadet alum who attended the standstill and yesterday's rehearsal.

Saw a longer clip of the show on Facebook with drill. Big staircase prop. Female soloist is good and featured a bunch. She was wearing a purple dress in the run. Rest of corps not in uniform/costume. I didn't recognize the music but it was fast. Lots of screamers. Kind of a latin feel to some of the music.

So outside of a brief clip on Facebook were any DCPers there and have any insights or thoughts on the music?

Saw a brief clip on Facebook. Hornline sounded very strong and some sho nuff screamers.

Here's a show design idea I had recently. "Escape" ...sort of a Shawshank Redemption with a twist. Guy is wrongly arrested and inprisoned. In prison he suffers torment and fight..losing his friend (ballad being the song Lost). He escapes but is killed in his escape. Show ends with him reuniting with his friend.

I started the 2017 thread...why not 2018. Let's hear ya. What do you wish for in 2018? Keep costumes? Go back to superman suit? Modernize superman suit? Show ideas? Let's get the banter going.

Alright...Scouts back in on a Saturday. Not my fav Scouts show ever, but a step in the right direction.

A lot of great reviews and praise for The Men tonight. And widened that margin with Mandarins. Keep pushing, brothers.

I agree...it's missing something. Not sure what to add but it lacks. The GE Mandarins and BC are putting out there is impressive and exciting. It was good to see Scouts live tonight. I applaud the Men for their work, but I'm just not a fan of the product when you compare it to others..namely Boston whose staff hit a homerun with that show concept. Some good moments, but nothing that just blew me up out of my seat.

I know I'll get blasted by some, but I was not a fan of Blue Stars' show. Just one man's opinion, but it was boring and there was too much electronic "stuff"

Whether BAC medals or not that staff knocked it out of the park with the show idea and effects.Academy...goofy but cute. Sort of a nod to VK 1992.

Boston...WOW WOW WOW WOW......Best ending effect since Phantom 2008 in my opinion.

Scouts.....weird. cool closer but just weird. Some timing issues and issues with hornline balance. Too many individuals sticking out. I'm an alum so I was anxious to see this live. I applaud the members and their work...but this show did nothing for me on an excitement level.

INT is up. Mandarins....music book has issues but their visual package is great. Some very cool stuff going on with the guard.

I'm here now....and IT'S HOT!!!!!!!. Also a very long hike from warmup to stadium and very hilly. Gonna be some tired performers and fans tonight. Good luck to all...and GO SCOUTS

I watched the video on youtube of the closer in Minnesota and I literally yawned. Feels my biggest fear is coming true....try TOO hard to be different. Costumes are one thing, but boring, abstract and non recognizable music...i can't get behind that.
