  1. I was just thinking the same thing. Unfortunately the lower-than-expected scoring out West seems to have sucked the life out of the excitement from pre-tour.
  2. Scores in from Arizona. Just not quite understanding what the issue is. Guess I'm blinded by my green-tinted glasses. The corps has improved just four points since the first show? Really? Now just one point ahead of Academy. I'm not giving up, though. Still have high hopes for this show even if the judges don't agree.
  3. Screamer at the beginning was in earlier videos and then gone. Guess it's back again.
  4. I love the powerful company front and that hit after the 39th lash. After that, though...it loses me.
  5. Here's a question for everyone who has seen the show either live or on video. As The Men begin their trek back to the east, what changes would you like to see to this year's show? I've been saying it since the first full run through, but from the amazing company front up to the fast drill leading to the star formation needs major attention. What say you?
  6. Scouts fans like myself will enjoy seeing a bit of spread from BK. I know we're all hungry to move past seeing 60s as well.
  7. Glad to see the show is beginning to grow on you. I'm very much a homer and have very high hopes for this show. But I also see some transitional things that need to be corrected, and from the company front to the end seems a little odd, confusing, choppy and in need of quite a bit of rewrite. The ending itself with the fast drill into the star and into the fluer is great....but getting to that point is uncomfortable. I figure the staff has received some good insight from judges and their own eyes and ears that some changes will begin after this last west-coast show.
  8. We need to see how this re-branded product finishes off before we think about another re brand. I'll be curious to see if Scouts are hurt down the line by the judges who will score completely original/cutting edge shows higher no matter how well the men perform what they have.
  9. Scouts still clinging to a one-point lead over a corps without a full show. Maybe some changes will be made on the trip back toward Midwest and we'll begin seeing a climb.
  10. I felt the hype from the videos I saw on the alumni site. Seemed to be a show with that "IT" factor that could grab the crowd and the judges. Still early but seems the crowd loves it, but per the norm, not so much with judges.
  11. I am not concerned with spreads from different shows, but I'm curious what is being said about the show and why it is being scored low. Is it just dirty? Is the story not being brought out enough? Is it an easy show being performed poorly? Is it a difficult show being performed poorly right now? Do the judges just not like the show? Are other corps just THAT much better? I'm bothered by this because the longer it is scored where it is, it'll be a bigger mountain to climb to catch back up. I also feel let down because I really felt this was a production that would compete with the upper tier right out of the gate.
  12. A lot more positive response from Stanford. Sounds like the men blew the stands down.
  13. That's what I'm hoping for, but I was hoping and expecting a bigger BOOM. I guess there isn't negative talk, so that's a good thing.
  14. I hope I'm wrong and it's just a lack of people talking but it feels like Scouts are being received well out west but not to the "holy smokes, oh my lawd what a show" level. Maybe I expected too much but figured this show wiuld be blowing the chat world up once it got in front of a live audience.
  15. From watching lot videos it sounds like snares still have mylar heads. Is the plan still to switch to kevlar or not? They sound very muddy with mylar..has to hurt drum scores one would think.
  16. All I see in Fresno thread is bi****** and moaning over BK and the lack of their complete show. No one seems to want to provide any insight into the shows. Maybe folks tonight will be more willing to critique.
  17. I haven't seen much in the way of critique of Scouts. How was the show received other than the one "brought down the house" comment on the show thread.
  18. Hurry up showtime. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning waiting for the parents to wake up.
  19. Possibly my favorite part of the show. Sound effect and rip my face off.
  20. Gracious....if Scouts score that low and that close to Academy and Crest, and that far from BK and the rest...you will see some epically P****ed off Scout folks. The product Scouts have on the field this year is WAY better than the 64 range.
  21. Love seeing all the debate from Indy and which corps will do what...but everyone leaves Scouts of the end-of-year talk. I think the Scouts will shock the drum corps world with what they're doing this year.
  22. Watched the live feed of tonight's dress rehearsal. So many great moments in this show. Obviously some cleaning needs to be done due to how early it is and ending isn't quite there yet...but overall this is an amazing show that's already being pwrformed at a high level.
  23. From watching other videos of the show the guitar is not nearly as prominent. It fits in nicely. I feel the show flows smoothly until the the closer and then it's choppy...but I think they'll change that.
  24. I hated the introduction of electronics, but I've grown to enjoy how some use it. IE Bluecoats in T/LT. And the way Scouts are using them this year, can't be replicated without. I just sat here playing over and over the whip count section. The voice counting the whips, "JUDAS" with the one last whip right along with the sound effect.....then this deep bass electronic serves as a grace-note of sorts to that face-melting power of the company front. Man O Man......there's just so much in this show to love.
