  1. As we enter the home stretch, I really hope the Blue Stars can max out their performances and get the most out of their show design - Come on Blue Stars!!!
  2. you do realize that the operators forgot to unmute the mics for the first minute and a half of BD's show and that they messed up levels for a large part of SCV's show, right? this is not a minor oops - this is unprofessional ineptitude -- We as consumers need to let flo and DCI know that we are not OK with this downgrade in production
  3. definitely crowd favorite! Seemed like they had the best crowd response --
  4. So what did people think about tonight's show? I thought Bluecoats were very good - high energy - still a lot to clean - which is good - not worry of peaking to early... Battery was good but might not top Vanguard tonight --
  5. true - use speedtest.net to test your download speed - you need to be at least above 40 mbps
  6. OK - let's hope the glitches are worked out now for Bluecoats!!!
  7. All of us need to contact DCI and FLO and complain about the incredible ineptitude displayed by FLO
  8. seriously - everyone tweet @dci @flomarching and complain everyone comment on fb too
  9. ALL OF US NEED TO CALL DCI AND FLO TOMORROW AND DEMAND MONEY BACK INCOMPITENT!!!
  10. left multi cam switched to hi cam -- still way too much front line in the mix -- all you can hear is the pit!!! AAARRRRRGGGGGH!!
  11. BOA and high school marching band drive the activity now - so if show designers are doing cool things for HS marching bands they're going to want to do those same things in DCI -- ultimately, I guess all we can do as fans is decide at what point we're going to stop enjoying the activity and spend our money elsewhere -- for the MMs, it's a shame because musicians are going to lose out on the unique experience -- all because of show designers who wanted to push the activity to unsustainable levels --- Best case outcome is show designers realize that mic'ing the horn ensemble is great for broadway pit orchestras, Blast and indoor WGI but not for drum corps.
  12. agree - gradual layering, adding more to front field until it's a BD style slow push -- I really thought they were going to do something cool with the electronics, like a looping kind of thing with one phrase and then building upon it, playing live -- if you're just going to play the sound live through speakers, it's not working - honestly, a nice backfield echo/reverb effect would be more pleasing than hearing it through the amps -- This is a great example of electronics creating a barrier between the performers and the audience - we didn't come to hear you through a sound system - we came to hear YOU.
  13. this is a good start - but it's going to take corps directors going to the DCI rules committee and starting a process there --- Hopefully the folks at Marching Roundtable will continue covering this issue -- If we do nothing, the activity will keep pushing in the audio engineering direction and drum corps will lose the uniqueness of live unamped brass performance -- Imagine if brass bands in England felt the need to start messing around with mic'ing their ensembles in order to get more sound or the sound they wanted?
  14. Could Michal please let us know if the normal DCI production crew will be doing DCI Finals? it would be brutal if the flo production team were doing finals --
  15. coming up to a mic for a solo is one thing -- but putting wireless mics on the bells of your best 16 horn MM the way SCV is doing is quite another -- in rehearsal I have heard the SCV staff instruct the board operator to boost levels for the mic'd players at high impact parts of the show to give the overall ensemble a boost - this is why Vanguard sounds so loud this year --
  16. curious what peoples' network speeds are who are having no problems - using speedtest.net in chrome (doesn't require flash) on a mac and windows laptop, I'm seeing download speeds of 17 - 18 mbps --- I'm testing both via wifi and direct ethernet for the DATR stream we had a lot of buffering and pixelation - either my network isn't fast enough - (we don't have super high speed service - just basic cable modem service) - or FLO's server setup can't handle the amount of simultaneous connections...
  17. we had buffering, freezing and random jumping issues - checking speedtest.net something wrong with my internet - 17.79 down 2.83 up hopefully my ISP can help...
  18. so how close will Devs and Bluecoats be? i'm calling Bluecoats by .325
