  1. Click on the drop down that says "more past events". They are there, but I agree the set up is a little clunky.
  2. I completely agree...blew me away. The power and clarity was wonderful. The only thing that bothered me about their show was the awkward musical transition into Ode to Joy, but I know that will get cleaned up later in the season.A few of my observations after attending the show: Troopers - very dirty visually. The marching technique of some of the members was very rough. Hopefully they can clean it up because the brass line sounded pretty good. Cavaliers - the crowd was very quiet throughout their show. I don't know if it was because it was coming out of intermission, but the crowd wasn't into it for some reason. I liked the show a lot, personally. Cadets - good musically, but a surprising number of holes on the visual side. Costs - I'll be interested to see how the effects they are using sound indoors with a the reverberation inherent in performing indoors. Hopefully it doesn't muddle it up at all. Really liked the show and has a ton of promise. On a final note, I hope the Cavies marcher that fell hard on his back on one of the boxes isn't too sore tomorrow. Looked quite painful to me. Overall a very enjoyable evening. I brought my 4 year old to his first show and he seemed to have a great time. He barely even got restless, which is saying a lot for him. Should be a great season!
  3. Both schools were in session. Oregon's semester started last week, while Ohio State's semester started yesterday, so the rant you read should have been focused on Oregon, since its players missed an entire week of classes.
  4. Wow...CNN's new page design is entirely unreadable. That said, the US Army Field Band's tweet was classic. I can't say I was terribly offended by the tweet. I was gladly a "band geek" in high school, though our band didn't really have that stereotype at our school. The football coach held us out to his players as harder workers and more disciplined they could ever think to be. 8 of the top 10 in our graduating class of 315 were in marching band. I'll take that as a success.

  6. You forgot Its a Small World After All. Guaranteed medal if you arrange the snot out of that.
  7. Go to corpsreps and search for some alt rock bands. That's your best bet.
  8. I agree...I was in one of those bands from 1996-1999. My brothers were in the band from 1991-1996. It was a blast competing in the National class with the likes of West Genesee and Webster. We struggled a bit in a few of the years that I was in it as our director had kind of mailed it in and our membership fell some, but it was great nonetheless. The problem with New York is that their school schedule goes until mid to late June (I graduated from HS on June 24 or so, while the city in live in now in Ohio graduates in late May), so high school kids have absolutely no way of marching in a World Class corps. With the Patriots no longer operating, its difficult to get kids interested in DCI, as there is no corps operating out of New York.
  9. BD traveled 350 miles each way every day? Youngstown is clear on the other side of Ohio, right next to the PA border.
  10. Very cool...and very well done piece. I usually cringe when I see news stories about DCI (typically on local news), but this one is actually well presented.
  11. ??? Two states over is either PA, TN, MO or IA. The list on DCI.org all Indiana. The farthest seem to be Pacific Crest, which are almost in Illinois, and Mandarins, which are almost in Ohio.

  13. I wonder if the guy second from left had to audition for the lead role.
