  1. Right on! As much as i loved BD 88, i recently saw vid clips of BD 88 and i gotta tell ya, they could "play" but BD 88 maybe the most velocityless show ever. Smooth to a fault. I swear if BD had 40 drill sets in their show, Madison, SCV, Cavies and Cadets must've had 200 sets. .............
  2. I don't see the problem here, they told you they weren't going to march a cymbal line and they are not marching a cymbal line. A few guard members playing cymbals for 1:00 of the show is not marching a cymbal line. Would you have marched if they said that they would march a cymbal line but for only 1:00 of the show? Maybe you should've taken a guard spot so you could play cymbals.
  3. 87 Garfield 88 Dutchboy, Suncoast 89 SCV, Suncoast 90 Cadets, SCV 91 Star, BD 92 Star, Cadets
  4. Interesting because they're using Yamahas rather than Pearls (or Premiers ack!). Even more interesting was the low, low tenor tuning and the high snare tuning. Star only used Kevlar heads in '93 (I think? Dang memory..) so hearing that tune played on Kevlar is kind of odd. But the best thing about that was the amount of flams being played. World peace will only be achieved with grace notes. I think I need to listen to '89 now.Hearing that on kevlar sounds odd to me too. Lacks the warmth of mylar.
  5. 88 Sky Ryders..."Sound of Music" gets no better (although I'd miss the vid of Tim Kviz #### near head-actioning his shako off at the end! That was Mickey Hartzog!
  6. I for one can't wait to see how well Empires OZ fits w/Dark Side of the Moon.
  7. To say DCI has more Talent than DCA is an insult for sure. The difference in the amount of rehearsal time alone between the two is just staggering in scope (if you've done both, then you know what i mean). To compare DCI and DCA is just wrong on so many levels.
  8. Thanks for noticing that bro, believe it or not, he's accused me of invading the 7540123 username from his clips and attaching it to his acct. so i can make it look like he's commenting on his own clips, RIGHT!.....That's not the only other username he uses. Funny that one is canceled now....... Yup, he's a Lawyer for sure.
  9. This guy puts up clips of himself on You Tube and then makes up different usernames and uses them to comment on his own clips as if he's someone else. He calls himself the next Buddy Rich and says that Gadd is overrated and claims he has better technique than Gadd too. The posts by 7540123 are from himself, he recently canceled that username and accused me of invading that page and attached it to his name to it so i could make it look like he's commenting on his own clips....Right! Drumming Lawyer. A lawyer for sure. Follow link: This guy friended me on facebook from someone elses' friends list and i approved him because he had Drums in his profile pic and i would've felt bad if it was someone i knew but didn't remember. He did this so he could send me clips of HIM drumming, so i could watch HIM drum. Anyway, when i read a post that proves that he claims that he has better technique than Gadd, that really bothered me. When i called him out, he called me ugly and evil,...this coming from a lawyer. innocent.gif Then he started posting nasty comments on clips of mine. Check this clip of mine: he is Attyvbb once again click on the username and see where it takes you.........D.A.M.

  11. i never said anything about anyone being unworthy! Suncoast 88 is one of my Favs for sure.
  12. Now, i can see mentioning Mad, BD and SCV,.................. but VK, Suncoast and especially Sky Ryders? Yah, Sky Ryders were a real threat to Garfield w/a lame version of -The sound of Music- of all shows. Do a Deer
  13. Funny, i've been hearing for the last 30+ years how DCI or Drumcorps in general won't be around in 10 years.
  14. There is a clip of the snares playing that passage on youtube under:
  15. Funny, i hear you on the "senior moment" because i seem to remember asking Al about this circa; 15 years ago and he said he marched w/Neil with the Seneca Optimists... - Anyway i asked Al Murray on FB and he seems to think he did march but isn't sure. He said he'd look into it later.
  16. Entering 4 different categories at i@e is just asking for scheduling issues. It went off "without a hitch" for you to boot, and still you called it a "nightmare". That's worth the fee alone. And on the fee issue, i find it just lame to expect your corps to foot your i@e bill. It's your choice to enter. The Corps has no say in how you represent them w/your performance, i've seen more than one i@e over the years that at least for a short time negatively effected my opinion of a corps.
  17. Sorry Fran, i always competed so i guess i was assuming it was always free.
  18. I@E has always been a free event to attend and performers have always paid a fee. There is a fee to perform a DCI I@E also.
  19. DCA doesn't know year-to-year how many people will participate, renting the Convention Center and getting all the necessary Insurances, Permits and Security probably is not cheap. I highly doubt all the entrance fees put together cover half if it. $10 seems kinda cheap to me.
  20. Does anyone know if Neil Peart ever marched? I remember hearing back in the day that he marched w/Seneca Opimists. - And why doesn't anyone seem to dress as Santa for Halloween?
