  1. Dude, you continually use the phrase bad marching band drill. What does that mean? Is that different than bad drum corps drill? There are a lot of both, just like there are great marching band and drum corps drill.
  2. Naffier 1 Fallon 0 quote name='arrangerX' timestamp='1379099766' post='3323558'] Hello Ray, I'm a professional music arranger. That's what I do to pay the bills. My passion is to arrange and compose. This isn't about playing "favorites" or some odd concept of competition. The Colts and Crossmen are not guaranteed to be competitive in the future. Far more than brass arrangements will be the difference there. Do you honestly think Jay Bocook consciously thinks about how he'll write a better book for the Cadets than the Blue Knights? How about Robert Smith writing for Madison and the Troopers? Think he tanked one for the Troopers so Madison wouldn't have as much competition? Do you even know me? My mission is to provide the best for the members, regardless of color of the uniform. Do you think I would abuse my trusted position for something as meaningless as a score or placement? Kind of insulting my friend. Chuck Naffier
  3. Chuck Naffier staying with Crossmen.
  4. Jay Kennedy - judge prior to working with Boston Crusaders and now back to judging community Wayne Dillon - judge prior to working with Boston Crusaders and now back to judging community Dick Saucedo - back & forth as judge prior to tenure with Cavaliers and in between there & Blue Stars going back a few years Scott Koter Jim Campbell
  5. Did he not like trashing hotel rooms ??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  6. Take off the baby blue colored glasses and you may want to lose the word exceptionally quote name='copyright' timestamp='1378416346' post='3322066'] Brilliant defined: exceptionally clever or talented. I'll go with that.
  7. I bet the author has a t-shirt on that says "i'm with stupid" and hat that says "who farted".
  8. So now 2 judges who were on World Class Finals panel in 2013 have left to teach corps they judged that night.
  9. How about the highest scoring corps from Wisconsin automatically makes finals? Looks like those grapes will always be tartan sour, no matter what year.
  10. Yup. Crown is a success story. They had a stable board of directors from the beginning and a plan to make it happen. Not so much the rest.
  11. This is GREAT NEWS. There is such a rich history of Open Class DCI corps from the South with strong management and a long range plan. Tampa Bay Thunder can compete with Tar Heel Sun, the first iteration of TBT and Teal Sound to see who lasted longer. I bet DCI is so excited to have them go through the evaluation process.
  12. The new corps director, program coordinator, visual designer and brass caption head all need to be announced sooner or later....
  13. I would love to see VK come back full force with solid financial footing and a management that does not mislead members. quote name='flammaster' timestamp='1378076001' post='3320741'] I would love to see VK come back full force and do a bunch of TV them songs like Manix, Johnny Quest, Lost in Space, Mod Squad etc.
  14. Better yet, why doesn't Michael Cesario step in for the good of the activity and have every corps does a tribute to its own heritage? For one season -only use material used before in the corps history. feel free to update and re-invent or be more literal. Each corps gets a chance to embrace its past without concern for their competitors will be "cutting edge" and have an advantage. Each corps gets a chance to embrace its existing fan base and (most likely) garner boatloads more. Would it be that bad if people clapped louder? Bought more tickets and souvenirs? Smiled on the way out of the stadium? I have to think that deep down inside the BD Staff would be thrilled with the opportunity.
  15. Isn't the visual designer also the program coordinator? Isn't he the same guy that wrote the 2012 drill that finished in 11th in GE Visual, Performance and Analysis? Can someone remind me how many times the Crossmen made finals when Marc Sylvester wrote the drill (2007-2009)? Leon May (2010) ? That's what I thought......
  16. Aungst & Larrivee along with a new brass arranger? quote name='Sutasaurus' timestamp='1377041391' post='3315446'] I am Dino hear me roar!,,,,,,, I'm kinda amazed at certain folks who start harping on stuff that happened almost a quarter of a century ago......like it has any bearing on what is relevant today! They bluster about it to an audience who is so young they have to take their opinion as fact. I stand by what I said about Mr. Wooten. He is a very talented man and Regiment is a better organization for the contributions he made to the corps. Mr. Gwaltney is also a fine musician. Was his style of writing complimentary to the horn book? I'm not sure the styles blended very well. That could be why this year's production had flow issues. I wish Mr. Gwaltney continued success in all his endeavors. He is part of a new generation of arrangers who will continue to evolve the activity. I wish him only the best. Looking to the future, I see lots of opportunity and talent Regiment can draw from. Let's hope the organization stays true to it's identity while designing fresh approaches to classical programming. Roar off
  17. 2 words - JUDGE ASSIGNMENTS Thanks John Philips for putting 2 Phantom staff alum on finals panel (Prosperie & Pipitone) and not D. Torchia, although noted California booster L. Carlson was on board to make sure Phantom was out of it in GE visual.
  18. Crossmen need to change percussion arrangers not drill designers. Boston needs a new drill designer in a big way. Academy needs to lose the entire design team.
  19. For such a a self-proclaimed master educator you seemingly do not comprehend the word "irony'.
  20. Sorry, but I can't take your posts seriously unless you use simple, basic language so everyone can understand it instead of vernacular designed to impress your fellow posters (writers ego)
  21. HUH? You might have overlooked the 18 years Tom Aungst wrote & taught....The lineage at Cadets was Hannum to Aungst to McNutt.
