  1. Thank you for taking the time to do the research. Having read the above the show now makes perfect sense to me.
  2. Your question is a good one but I don't think that judge's are varying that much anymore.
  3. Whatever they are saying it must send a subliminal message to the judges. <---don't flame...just being sarcastic again.
  4. Time zones have nothing to do with it in drum corps. That's why I posted somewhat sarcastically if we could only afford to fly DCI corps to show venues.
  5. Rather than attacking the position of the OP why don't you try to explain what has changed?
  6. Let's look at this from another perspective. First, I realize that all of the top corps going west is going to be a rarity (G8 in 2011 most recent example). With professional sports (yes they fly in and out) the problem is for teams going from west to east (time zone difference). An east coast team has an advantage going west more so than a west coast team going east (by 3 hours +/-. Now, if we could only afford to fly corps to show venues!
  7. Don't try telling any corps members that it's over.
  8. As I have said in other threads I have grown to understand and accept this year's Blue Devils program. But, having viewed the Fan Network feed last night I was surprised that the outcome wasn't closer. Didn't the judges hear the five fracks by the amplified trumpet soloists? Face it, they had an off night last night and were still more than a point ahead of the field? Do the judges really listen? The show that most impressed me last night was The Cadets. Their horns (particularly the opening soloists) were the cleanest I have heard them this year. As far as I'm concerned it it time for the judges to reward on an individual night's performance. If not, why judge at all.
  9. Absolutely, the show should have been stopped while the injured member was attended to. While not DCI, there is a precedent (2005 Kilties -- DCA prelims). RIP Lothar. Yes, the demands in DCI shows vs DCA are different. Seriously, the only downside I see to stopping a show is that a corps which was having a bad run could theoretically feign an injury so as to get a fresh start. Not saying anyone would but they could. Hoping for a full recovery for that PC member.
  10. Wondering how you are defining "since DCI started in the early 70's" I'll give you that maybe the Anaheim Kingsmen's win in 1972 was before the early 70's. But have you ever heard of another west coast corps that won five titles between 73 and 89 (which is only two years before Star in 91)?
  11. went through here about 3 hours ago...just now letting up....2 hours west of Little Rock.
  12. no sound but picture back. BTW references to twister and OZ... just noticed tonight (earlier) PC's form with battery in circle at field left and hornine in stretched Z .. reference to OZ and colors?
  13. Did Fan Network shut down for INT? No sound and black screen.
  14. I too would not recommend Greyhound. Not that their service is bad but you must also factor in what you will need to pay for your meals along the way. I've done overnight trips from where I live to Wisconsin and I was drained. You trip is at least twice as long. Have you tried taking out a loan? I would really like to help you get there but well, no extra money in my household right now.
  15. I agree. I know we also had a recording of our Milwaukee show about a week after the Racine show. We scored higher and won that night but the show in Racine was the one where we came into our own [as described earlier].
  16. Racine, WI...the crowd went nuts from the beginning of the show to the end. And the PA announcer summed it up at the end saying "Wonderful show. Wonderful show."
  17. I'll have to wait until Saturday too. I'll be driving down Friday night.
  18. 1992 SCV re-staged Fiddler about 6 times. I saw them live about 4 times and then on PBS from Madison and the package was different every time.
  19. The following is NOT an opinion on one era's shows versus another one's. The most important factor as to the survival of our activity is MONEY. So long as there is enough to support the corps it will continue. If the economy is such that people cannot invest (fans and members) then our precious activity will wither. Yeah, I know...too simplistic but that's the way things are in our society.
  20. Sheesh, when I first read the censorship I thought maybe what was censored was "DADA...DADA...DADA"
  21. Good thread but one thing I always found helpful between shows was to stand up, get some blood back in my butt, and talk to my neighbors. But who really talks anymore with blogs and texting.
  22. No problem Mike. When I found the mute button that annoying click was gone and I enjoyed your posts. If you're sitting near the judges' box next week listen for me Boooooing. I'll be right above you.
