  1. It's fascinating how DCI fans are some of the most unprogressive and hypocritical fans around. As far as BDs current direction in shows being labeled as "esoteric", how can a piece that is a 100 years old be called esoteric? Just because YOU haven't heard of it, doesn't mean it's esoteric. Which is why I'm calling these people unprogressive. A show of hands, how many people here dislike pop music? Who here hates whats played on the radio? Who here tries to get there non musician friends to listen to "better" music or musicians? But when it comes to drum corps, all everyone wants to here is Malaguena and Phantom Of The Opera. Which is why I'm calling these people hypocrites. Since 2008 BD has been wasting great shows on DCI.
  2. Cavs announce their show title and it makes front page on DCP. Devs announce everything and a day later there is nothing on the front page.
  3. Not surprising my first post got down voted. Was it that I called out people for crying about last year or that I said it was my favorite year?
  4. I was really hoping they'd continue in the direction they started last year. 2010 is my favorite year by a pretty wide margin, but you gotta think that all the crying that went on as a response to the show had an effect on them going back to the "jazzy" sound they're known for. Hope they expand on the 2010 concept in the near future.
  5. My buddy played them at the NAMM show and didn't like them. Of the horn manufactures that were they he rated the system blue last, and if I remember correctly the Yamaha horns first. He marched 94 BD low brass.

  7. P.S. The Chargers ain't going anywhere. Oceanside is building a minor league ball park, not going after The Bolts anymore.
  8. I live in San Diego, actually North Park, right off the 805 directly across from The Q. Weather is better than perfect and the city is set up to accommodate a large event like this. We host Comic Con every year and The US Open in 2008. I've worked both events and everyone I spoke with was very pleased with the experience. Finals will never come to San Diego because it makes to much sense. Oh, and I'm forgetting that every east coast corps that has been around for a million years still can't afford to make the trip over here. I'm surprised DCI has done as well as it has considering they do next to nothing to expand their product and cater to the east. Ready-Set-Go for all of you that love to call people TROLLS
  9. "I didn't really like the musical arrangement for BD 2000" Please explain.
  10. BD 2000 . Cavs had a pretty good show this year, but their concept seemed a little confused at times. 3rd place ain't bad for spending a significant amount of the season in Europe.
  11. I want them to play all of 4'33". Then I want EVERYONE on DCP to cry about how they can't recognize it.
  12. I'm not necessarily talking about "screamer" solos, not even just trumpet solos actually. I think some of the best BD solos have been baritone, but thats beside the point. I think those other soloists had better control of their horn. I understand it maybe more difficult to incorporate a solo into a BD show now (although there was plenty this year) but what about the other corps that still make typical drum corp shows?
  13. I'm beginning to think I may have to recant some of my previous statements. I recently texted a person that was a part of BD's 2010 production and asked if this years hornline could play 1993's book and they replied "Yep". So maybe this decline I suggested earlier doesn't exist. BUT, it still seems as if the recent solos are lacking. Maybe this becomes more of a question as to why more of the best players at this age group don't march drum corp? Is it because DCI does a terrible job of marketing it's product, as other topics have suggested? Is it because the best players can't march these current shows that are physically so demanding? Do corps just rely on their name alone for recruitment?
