  1. Confusion for me is if they will average Atlanta/Winston Salem like they did to determine Allentown, or if they'll do a straight average of all four if you attended both of those events.

That will actually determine 3/4 for Carolina Crown and Bluecoats.  If they average those two scores before plugging Atlanta weekend into the total average, Bluecoats are seeded 3rd and Carolina Crown 4th.  If they just do a straight average of all four events, then Carolina Crown is seeded 3rd and Bluecoats 4th (#### Atlanta PENALTY LOL)

How about the corps breathing down BD’s neck are actually quite good?

I appreciate BD a lot but this feels good after reading the another level no competition too good for DCI stuff BLAH BLAH BLAH all season.

They’re the favorite to win still for sure, someone has to do the job and BD finishes the season better than anyone out there, but would love to see someone else take it all next week.  If they win by two points again you won’t see any ill will from me but yawn.  I want drama.  There are three VERY hungry corps behind them.  Would be amazing and well earned if one of them would do the job.  There is one I would prefer to do it and one I would also be fine with, but nice to seemingly see four vastly different approaches in contention.

  3. This feels like the kind of show that is going to ignite the audience to another realm in Indy.

FTL with the muted trumpet/trombone, Take me to Church, and that finale are going to make the audience putty in their hands.  Really really really want this show to finish 5th but that’s just the cherry on top of making history with a landmark show of the season.

I noticed this in the ballad, as well. The first full horn block ensemble hit is soooo restrained. Most other corps would play this hit as loud as they could -- seems like a logical place for ffffff. But the 'Coats brass holds back at this part, and saves the higher decibels for several measures later.

They came in a lot louder on the impact earlier in the season, love that they save a little and really let it blossom after the first phrase there.  Great change!

Kind of has a 2011 feel to it. Some momentum (8th in 2010, 7th in 2022) that wasn't captured effectively.

I hope the powers that be don't freak out design team wise.

    Agreed.

I love a lot of things in this show and really applaud them for taking a pretty big risk with a super weird show, definitely wasn’t safe.   I agree with those that have said I was expecting a lot more development, layering, and evolution, but just didn’t really happen.  Not really clicking as a package like I was hoping it would in the end.  I’ll still listen to it more than at least 4 or so shows that will place ahead of them, brass is delicious and I love the ballad so much.  Interested in where they go next year.

  6. Imma say sorry for being spicy on here last night (especially to you @Cappybara :bighug:)

I will be the first to admit (and ALWAYS have) that I have a Bluecoats bias and it has been pretty grinding reading comments about narration and costuming ALL season long when there is so much cool stuff in the show to talk about, especially with the changes last night (enhanced awesome impact in the opener and the end of part three, added dynamic shaping and solo work in the ballad, all the changes to Bump, and the new ending to name a few!).

If those aren't for you, totally get it and it's a forum so people can talk about whatever they want, but at this point those things are there and there are so many other cool things in what they do to talk about!

With that I think I'll just take the rest of the season off and enjoy what the corps are offering.

forgot to mention but i love the changes bloo made tonight, super musically and visually stunning. lots of moments in brass where brought out especially during bump and i loved it, and the restraint in the ballad was just beautiful.

Thanks for talking about something other than BuT tHe NaRrAtIoN.
