  1. I grew up in Hereford! It's a small world!
  2. This thread is really making me smile despite the situation at hand.
  3. Is it me or could this situation could have ended a lot worse? They ended it before it started affecting the members, which shows something about the corps, they cared about their members. I just wish some of the parents could see that. I do think timing and wording of the announcement and plans could have been worded a tad better, but they made sure that they had a ride and went to an airport, they didn't just get up and leave! I dunno, this situation was handled okay when it comes right down to it. Preventing it is a different story, but given the circumstances, I think it went pretty well.
  4. DCP is not really that bad after reading some of those...sheesh.
  5. They're going to rely on people like you to survive, I bet they'll appreciate it.
  6. What is really sad to me, is this could be what a first years members parents impression will be of a corps in general now, I'm surprised at how well DCP is handling this, the facebook post by Teal Sound is turning into a nightmare....
  7. If Bluecoats new ending is A LOT better and a few of the choppy transitions are fixed this show will be VERY good. I guess we'll see in Minneapolis! And a little more GE, theme isn't quite coming across.
  8. I'm excited to see what these three rehearsal days do to the show!
  9. There needs to be a balance of the two IMO.
  10. I just realized I never did this. Here's a short bio as far as music/marching related things go. Hello! My name is Landry, I live in Canyon Texas in the Texas panhandle (90 miles north of Lubbock, 30 south of Amarillo, and around 4 1/2 to 5 hours away from Dallas). I graduated from Canyon High school this past May and am an incoming freshman Music Major at West Texas A&M University for this coming year. I played bass drum in marching season for all 4 years of high school, and was the captain for 3, as well as the drumline captain for 2 years. I have money set aside for an audition this coming fall, and I WILL be marching somewhere either on a bass line or front ensemble for the 2013 season. My favorite corps are the Blue Stars and Bluecoats. If you want to know anything else about me feel free to PM me!
  11. Wow, two things I noticed: Blue Stars guard in 2nd, which probably contributed to them topping Cavies in visual, I'm a Blue Stars fan but that kinda surprised me.
  12. I'm not really a fan of how it transitions right from Malaguena into the singing, kinda disrupts the flow and energy they had going. I dunno, I like the rest of it.
  13. Lemme reword that, their show is designed to peak in August. I don't think scores will show the progress until at least San Antonio, it's easy to count someone out this early when scores and placements will be different in August. I'm going to be patient.
  14. No. They just need to get clean, I it's not the staff. The show is hard and that's showing in the scores right now.
  15. He's writing my colleges drum book this coming year apparently, excited to say the least.
  16. Not very much love for Blue Stars on here, so this is nice to see.
  17. I believe he wrote for Madison in 2006, not 100% sure on that.
  18. My favorite moments right now: The last big "Rite of Spring" hit in The Academy's show is gorgeous, I think when that show gets clean it's going to be pretty killer. 10 member bass line during the drum feature should also get some credit IMO. "Love Dance" in the Bluecoats show (I think that's what it is, 3/4s of the way in) is the Ballad of the year IMO, gorgeous, and it fully develops, it's not a chopped up arrangement, it's beautiful. How could I forget Blue Devils opening "Apollo 13" theme I believe. Beautiful. Blue Stars opening and first impact (dunno what piece that's from), is great. Bright flags, loud brass and drums, what more could you ask for? Colts closing statement "All by Myself" gave me uber chills when I watched it the first time, that part of the show makes the show for me, great old fashioned way to end a show with company fronts and a great trumpet screamer. Crossmen's ballad "Here Comes the Flood" is beautiful as well, guard when cleaned will really make that moment pop IMO. While the first half honestly bores me, the second half of Madison's show is an AMAZING mashup of their greatest hits, the cherry on top is the rotating company front. Get that first half better and I think I'll be a fan. The eerily Star 93 esque hit in Carolina Crown's show towards the end before their final push. They're playing amazingly loud and in a scalene triangle, along with the unis, made me think Star 93. My favorite moment of the year right now is the moment when the guard in Phantoms show gets the red costumes pulled off showing the gorgeous new outfit underneath, the build up to that moment and the hit right after just punches me in the face with awesomeness.
