  1. ha, well if I were you I would go with Crown 07, Im a crown fan, but the thing is it captures a person, now you could go cavies 04 and use that?
  2. yeeeeah the saying bless your heart, goes around the trumpet section alot. "Man my lips are blown" "Awww bless your little heart I have high C's for the next half hour and you dont hear me complaining" It works to, people quit complaining
  3. Yeah, put the O in by accident... man im off today
  4. Agreed, At one time I looked up each town to see what they looked like since the corps were from there, buisness advertising galor when you look em up.
  5. Haven't ever posted a poll before, so I "borrowed" the idea of MBI (Marching Band International) from Jedihunter80 and created a Poll. Anyways his post sprung the idea of woodwinds possibly being allowed in one day, so if MBI is created then woodwinds could march seperatly from DCI, then our problem is solved... I guess debate? If it bothers you I "borrowed" your idea then just tell me and I'll try to delete it.
  6. However the thought of using woodwinds in a corps directors mind is disgraceful in my view
  7. Personally I feel that in the future corps will use woodwinds, however some will remain traditional. It will be Republican vs Democrat in the future, but not right now.
  8. Dump him yes, anyways, I live in M'boro so its fun for me to get up and drive around all day to chapel hill, smyrna, riverdale, and what not to see corps practice However Neyland (UT) would be a great place to host heh heh. Anyways so I found out why Siegel doesnt host anyone. Apparently Before Siegel was built our principle was at Oakland and the hosted the Blue Devils. Somehow the gym floor was almost set on fire? So no more corps However I personally think itd be cool to have a corps practicing 2 blocks from my house oooo well, privalages of driving I suppose.
  9. Even if someone had the money, I would consider it like getting a grass stain on your sunday school clothes, you may not think its a big deal, but your moma (dci fans) isnt gonna be to happy about it. Plus its just kinda low when you really think about it, who wants to pay money to pay a famous celeb to preform with you I mean you could save a few (thousand) Overall if may bring in more spectators to the activity, but that really destroys what the activity was founded on.
  10. Now I wouldnt mind Blue Stars, I just thought all Corps held tryouts in their home towns, not moving. That makes it alot more thesable for trying out for other corps I like.
  11. I would say, take a bit of cavaliers 2008 where they do the line jump, along with some of Crown's big hits, Devs 09 where they do all that party jazz on the field, and lastly what I would do is have the Cavies 007 screamers at the end. All of that is pretty moving, and should be under a minute, while showing the more fun side. Oh! Also, probably for the end I would have the 2009 results "and the DCI world Champions are with a score of blah blah blah (go crown anyways). But yeah thats what I would do all of those parts scream intensity and athleticism in my view, which the yshould respect. good Luck!
  12. Look here this is my view because its my situation. I think that there are people who could make world class if given the chance, but it costs money. If I get the money together before I age out with college and everything to march open or world ill be lucky. So people that say that if you wait till your age out year to tryout annoy the mess out of me, I have college to pay for, even with the lottery scholorship its expensive as #### Just sayin an ulterior motive is not always the case, Maybe you had it all paid for, in college im on my own for paying it, and from what ive looked at majoring in music is not cheap. Just dont say ulterior motive like someone has a master plan or a resume thing, because in my case, and probably someone elses case, paying to do corps of whatever catagory will be a pretty big achievement. In my book anyhow. I come from middle class, but my parents arent just gonna sit down and write a check like alot of parents do.
  13. Eh, to long to read through anyways oh well, ill see how long she'll go besides mines the top 6
  14. So im saying for the top 6 heres the order, Im curious to see how right ill be, Ive got nothing better to do in the offseason 1st: Crown 2nd: Devs 3rd: Cadets 4th: Cavies/Coats 5th: Coats/Cavies 6th: Regiment There ya go, my preseason top 6
  15. I probably should, but ive crunched numbers and everything and with college and majoring in music and all, I can really only afford one or the other. Im not trying to be hard headed, please dont take it that way. I would just like to go out with a bang, and people have said that I should march world class (directors, pvt lessons teacher) though if I cant get in a world by the time age out comes rolling around ill definatly go open.
  16. Im going for the trumpet section, and how do you tryout for all three? arnt the camps usually on the same days?
  17. Well, I think personally from my high school opinion that there is no longer any emphasis put on the arts anymore. If you can talk fast then your cool, and pick on band kids thats cool to, no one wants to be "that kid" However the band kids end up being your boss half the time. Anyways, I think that since people dont recognize the arts hardly anymore along with it being fun for them to have a general catagory to make fun of, thats whats hurting us. However, I do have a theory... Almost everyone in elementary school wants to try band. Alot of them do quit because they dont like it, which is good and all. But, I think that, if initially they are exposed to, not boring classical music, but to screamer jazz or some really strong low brass. Maybe even a bit of DCI (live of course) then it will retain more people in the field of music. Personally I know that the elementary school teachers have alot to do with so many students just learning and they dont recieve spectacular pay, However I think that maybe if somehow they started out on better equiptment and had a pvt lessons teacher come in sooner then its more fun, its not struggling like I had to deal with. However for some that cant afford either, just interaction from the older kids local high schools and colleges, because then the kids can relate to what the ycan become if they work at it. Just generally in my view better equiptment, pvt lessons, and most importantly interaction from older players who take time to play with them and show them that it is actually fun, not just boring 1/4 notes. Just my view.
  18. Ok, so im a junior in high school, at the moment, and im looking to tryout in the next 1-3 years. My favorite corps would be Carolina Crown, Cavaliers, and the Bluecoats. These three are the ones I would like to tryout for. Im in Murfreesboro TN and when I get the money together I plan to go to either of those three. Do any of you know of when the corps will really take new members. because I know that all corps would rather take their vets over a new guy. Could I maybe get a general area of when Vets for either of these 3 begin to run low? I just became concerned when one of my friends who plays tuba was trying out for crown and told me of the competition for spots, just for trumpets, I believe he said 24 vets trying out for 21 spots? Could be wrong but that seems to be what I remember. Thanks
  19. ideally for me I would say King low brass, and Yamaha upper brass, but overall if you had to pick one I would say go with the Yamaha, good resale value, and the're stil good horns
  20. Personally I find that the Cavaliers hornline to my seems dynamic, as in that if you look at Crown their goal is to completely dominate, As for the Cavaliers, such as 007 volume was pretty good in my view. I see their volume of sound driven on how physically demanding the show is. Samurai I didnt hear alot of wow moments, but the drill was off the wall. In my view they march such hard drill that at times volume is second nature to lookung clean, in my book of course.
