  1. 1) even I think that the Coats guard isn't that great work wise, but hornline wise I love em. 2) no videos, they only complain about the "work" being easy, but they always say that the cleanliness is very much good. 3) perhaps it's just ignorance in youth? kinda how I used to think that all of crowns music was easy when I was younger (specifically 2 yrs) 4) I can occasionally find a clip of a "cool routine" and what not so that's why I was asking about specific years in order to help convince them that going to Atlanta with me is worth their time. (cause I think once they see it live it'll be like my 1st time in understanding it's not all as easy as it seems)
  2. and they also are really fond of Sabers, not really that fond of rifles.
  3. Ok, so for the longest time i've been trying to get my sisters into DCI. Um, they are in colorguard and I am in brassline so you see that it's already difficult for me to do this. Anyways whenever I do show them ANYTHING (mainly good hornlines) they keep on going on about how all of the corps guard work they've seen is easy and all. idk what I can show them. They are really good at it in my view. But I don't know of corps that have women in it, that have REALLY hard guard work, and are clean ya know? It's hard for me to describe it, but can you give me some corps that have some of the hardest guard work in DCI and are clean etc, (Im asking you CG guys) and don't say Scouts or Cavies cause they wouldn't take my sisters. But yeah, if you're followin me, help?
  4. Just as a thought, since im only 17, I think it would be interesting to go to a live show and hear a G line in one of the top 8, just a thought.
  5. wow, that's really a surprise for me to find that out
  6. and for killing 2 birds with one stone, is there anything keeping DCI World Class Corps from using G bugles again? (rule wise)
  7. So I know back in the day it was 2 piston bugles and what not. Well I saw Blue Devils "Legend of the One Eyed Sailor" not being a big BD fan, but still liking them, I decided to see what this legendary one eyed sailor was all about. It was pretty cool (if I dont mind sayin) but one thing perturbed me. I saw a Rotary Mello? I had never known that DCI used rotary mellos, just curious, but did they come before piston mellos? and were they very popular at all? It just made me curious if there was anything in the hornline precursing all 2 pistoned bugles?
  8. haha when I first read this, I thought they went legit Latin. Haha Vini, Vidi, Vinci right?
  9. So I was talking to one of my friends, who has seen a few shows, while I have seen none. Anyways he said that BDs have props this year, is he BSing me or is this true? If it is, what are the props supposed to be?
  10. 1-3) CC, BD, & HNC 4-6) SCV, Cavies, & Phantom 7) The Stars that are not from Indiana 8) Coats 9) Scouts 10) BAC 11) troops 12) Academy
  11. Yeah, I see more of a BOA style coming out of them. Although, I do believe that speech and props are not retro, same goes for the synth. Altough, for most Bands that the high school band i'm in runs into, the BOA influence isn't reeeeeally there except for occasional vocals and props. I've noticed most pvt schools i've seen have props and most public will have anywhere from nothing to vocals and/or a few props. (mostly nothing)(Old Fashioned is the way to go)
  12. Well apart from the costs of a corps that are set, I have not marched yet, but I had a few friends march and I asked them how much you carry apart from the regular tuition, and they told me 200-400. One of them had 400 and lived comfortably and didn't have to worry to much, the other had around 200 (maybe a little more or less idk) and he said he had to plan his budget more carefully and couldn't go candy crazy at walmart like some others could. Though, they did say some other brought less and did ok. I'm just speaking from conversations I had with some of my friends who marched.
  13. Thanks for the replies, I guess from this I can assume that whatever corps I tryout for, if I make it, I think the brass staff might be resonable (though I won't know until I tryout and/or make it) Mchromik, just sayin, but If that's the case then do play a 6A4A on the Hummel Trumpet Concerto, and get that nice full dark tone, or go join a jazz band a scream double C's all night with a Bach 1A, that's about all I can say.
  14. I really want to audition for the 2012 season, so my freshman year of college is out of the way (2011-2012), and I can only march one year at most (as of what I can tell now)(It may change later on down the road)
  15. Haha, my options are well open. I have no problem in the world goin for these guys (in no particular order of course): Crown, HNC, Coats, Cavies, Madison, or Stars. I'm in no particular hurry to pick, in that this coming summer (2011) is when I'll make enough money to pick whichever I want to go for, and I'll have enough to not worry about travel fees for those guys. But yeah, like I said my options are wide open for those guys, and I play on a LOUD 1.5C, which is supposed to have a Cup equal to that of a Mt. Vernon Bach 1 1/2. but with a much softer rim, #27 hole, and a #10 Backbore. I sound the best on it, and my range is relatively good on it (Eb ish-a G above High C on a given day) But my problem is that the measurements on the Mt. Vernon's cup is smaller than today's 1 1/2 cup on a Bach, Plus Bach has been SUPER inconsistant on stamping out perfectly measured mpcs. I guess you can see my concern there?
  16. I'm just asking for world class in general, whether you or someone you knew was able to
  17. Basically what i'm asking is, will a corps let you supply your own mpc if you truely sound better on it, and perform better? I've heard of corps making trumpet sections march soley Bach 3's and 1.5's. So I was wondering if I could supply my own mpc with say a different rim and what not. I'm just curious, because whenever I tryout in the next few years I suppose this is a good thing to know right?
  18. You Know? the nail thing is just plain COOL!
  19. you must be from around these parts. Atleast it's not "You Guys" I can't stand that at all.
  20. cool beans, i'll group order some tickets so me and some friends can go and car pool
