Here's a little unknown fact about the 1977 Oakland Crusaders snare line (aka the crispy critters). One of our snare players was kicked out of the Corps halfway through the season, for an unknown reason. A week latter he was marching on Oakies snare line, right beside the center snare player. He finished the season with them and was able to be part of an historical snare line.

Now that John Meehan is the new Director of the Showband, I think there could be some changes. https://www.dci.org/news/calgary-stampede-showband-looks-to-evolving-future-as-it-names-its-new-director All he needs to do is convince the Calgary Stampede Foundation, who formed and funds the Showband, that getting rid of the woodwinds, would be a worthwhile venture. Here's some more information about them. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/calgary-stampede-money-corporate-structure-foundation-1.4735486 -
Finals 2022 -- Saturday's Attendance?

I'm wondering if it might be due to staff shortages, similar to what's been happening at airports. It seems like these low paying jobs are getting hard to fill since the pandemic. -
The "INTERNATIONAL" part of DCI.

I would like to see the Calgary Stampede Showband turn into the Calgary Stampede Drum Corps by going all brass. They were founded in 1971 and are fully funded by the Calgary Stampede. I found this article about their financial situation that some might find interesting. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/calgary-stampede-money-corporate-structure-foundation-1.4735486 -
The "INTERNATIONAL" part of DCI.

The "International" part of DCI actually came from the Director of De La Salle Oaklands from Toronto, who were an original associate member. -
An intense frustration.

This is why DCI is so infatuated with the Calgary Stampede Showband. Check out this link about their founder (1971) and sole supporter. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/calgary-stampede-money-corporate-structure-foundation-1.4735486 -
A bunch of corps will not be in Atlanta. Why?

You wouldn't want to live in Canada in the winter, that's for sure. I live in Canada and in my neck of the woods temperatures get down below -40. That Polar Vortex that hit Texas a couple years ago past through here first and temps bottomed out at -43!
