  1. Hard to say it does, hard to say it doesnt. Non east coast corps tend to play catch up on prelims rather than being able to go out in their proper order to get the read before/after the correct corps around them. If the judges do a perfect job, it wouldnt matter but managing numbers isnt easy and could potentially mess with a corps finals time slot. Just an idea: Since practically every corps is out 2 weeks before finals, maybe they could use those scores and put corps into groups of 3 for random draw order. Problem is... what to do with the corps that dont get a score that weekend.
  2. You said 3 million in props.... electronics are not props. Ill take MC for example... I doubt they are focused on your "Cadetadevaleiers". Do you really think they folded because they were trying to copy the top corps? I doubt it. Or Glassmen... they folded because they let prior debt go unpaid. Thats an administrative problem. Yes rising costs of gas and electronics probably played a part Im sure but it could have been avoided. Or Teal Sound... they folded because they were not making members live up to their contracts by paying tour fees. Again... an administrative problem. All corps have electronics these days, not just the top corps and no, not all corps added them just because the top corps got them. Lower corps jumped on that bandwagon day 1 too.
  3. Stop using absurd dollar amounts to make a point. Corps are not folding because they are trying to keep up with other corps.
  4. I dont see a spending cap stopping corps from folding. Each corps should be responsible enough not to spend more than they have. Even if you instituted a cap... smaller corps still wouldnt be able to afford the "luxuries" and keep up with the top dogs, unless the cap was so low that nobody could afford extras.
  5. 150 pre-worn black bathrobes. *oath required upon purchase*
  6. Most energized crowd there has been at LOS. Close competition, the crowd cheering on Crown, Scouts doing their thing, SCV... best finals since 08.
  7. Of the corps I saw both years... Crown - 2013 BD - 2012 SCV - 2013 Cadets - 2012 Bluecoats - 2012 Phantom - 2012 Boston - 2013 Madison - 2012 (this was a tough one. Kinda apples and oranges) Cavies - 2013 BK - 2013 Spirit - 2012 Bluestars - 2012 Crossmen - 2012 Troopers - 2013 Colts - 2013 Jersey Surf - 2012
  8. I think MBI (and the other Midwest corps) has the advantage this weekend. They had last weekend off so their score on Friday will jump a bit regardless and then they get yet another read by (what I assume would be) the same panel the next day. I dont see CV that high, either. Gold will also be well above Sunrisers. As far as Class A goes... not a clue where HCB and Lakeshoremen will fit in. After the dust settles: Open Class: 1 - 95.00 - MN Brass 2 - 94.95 - Bucs 3 - 93.30 - Cabs 4 - 90.80 - Cadets² 5 - 90.60 - Empire 6 - 86.50 - CV 7 - 85.60 - Fusion 8 - 81.25 - Bush 9 - 78.85 - Kilties 10 - 78.70 - Hurcs 10 - 78.70 - Gold 12 - 76.45 - Sunrisers Class A: 1 - 84.10 - Govies 2 - 82.60 - Sabers 3 - 77.70 - CT 4 - 77.35 - Sun Devils 5 - 76.25 - Tampa Bay Thunder 6 - 76.20 - Windsor Regiment 7 - 72.25 - High Country 8 - 71.35 - Excelsior 9 - 70.00 - Lakeshoremen 10 - 67.90 - Shenandoah 11 - 65.45 - Centurions
  9. I was rooting for Crown this year but secretly wanted SCV to make a miracle happen and win it all (I know it wasnt going to happen). I have absolutely loved SCV the last 2 years and hope they can add a few cards to their hand and win. Also... Id love to see Bloo up there.
  10. I see nothing on Twitter, Facebook or their website...
  11. A few "little" things from some of the top 12. Crowns narration in the ballad. Hated it then loved it. That kid put serious emotion into it. Great moment. BDs poles. Kinda just forgot they were there by the end of the season. SCVs entire show... just kidding, that was amazing all year. Bluecoats... wasnt a fan of all the randomness. Still not a fan but I learned to appreciate it. Cavies robes. Hated how long they had them on until it got cleaned up. Cool effect by the end. Boston in general. A snooze fest until finals for me. Never saw it live until then... might have been the problem. Scouts. Felt like a lot of cheese early season but it had me tearing up a tad come finals. Loved it.
  12. I dont agree (at least not at the top). EXAMPLE: If BD is at a 19.6 in Brass but Crown is actually .5 better... the spread means nothing because they have to stop at 20. Spreads work but not when a corps scores a 20.
  13. Was thinking about heading down there but then I saw a few pics posted and realized I was never going to get close enough for it to be worth while.
  14. Agreed. It will be Bucs and MBI 1-2 again. I dont see anyone else cracking the top 2. The question remains, who will be #1 and who will be #2. I also think Cabs will hold 3rd just fine. Empire and C2 will battle it out come finals.
  15. They all warm up in Military Park. Its about a 10-15min walk NNW of the stadium off of West Street.
  16. Oh how I would LOVE to see SCV win! but... its not in the cards. I just dont think they have enough left in that show to go above what Crown and BD are doing. But really... I would jump up and down like a little school girl if they pulled it off. Its possible for Cadets to win but I dont see it either. They could make a move for silver but I think gold is out of the question.
  17. Bucs 92.80 Cabs 89.55 C2 86.50 Fusion 85.75 Bush 83.50 Sabers 81.10 Sun 78.00 I dont think Bucs will be as far ahead as some say. No way C2 passes Cabs. Fusion will close on C2 a little. Bush hanging in there. Sabers get back on track a little. Sun makes a nice jump after 2 weeks.
  18. Not my scenario but is it really that impossible this year? Look at the last TOC show... .05 away from there being 2 ties in the top 4.
  19. BD... why? Crowns percussion. Unless the guard and hornline have an exceptional performance and a visually clean show... it aint happening.
  20. I enjoy it for what it is but I prefer whats out there today (minus a few things).
  21. Good question. Would they be announced as tie for gold and tie for silver (with all other corps moving up a spot) or would they be announced as tie for gold and tie for bronze. My guess is since they announce from the bottom, it would go as a tie for 3rd and a tie for 1st.
  22. They are not a corps like SCV who stands solid the whole time at retreat but they are not like BD who break once 2nd is announced. If they win, they will wait to celebrate until they are announced.
  23. 1/2. Blue Devils, Carolina Crown 3/4. Santa Clara Vanguard, Cadets 5/6. Bluecoats, Phantom Regiment 7/8. Cavaliers, Boston Crusaders 9. Madison Scouts 10. Blue Knights 11. Blue Stars 12. Spirit 1-8 in pairs of 2 could go either way. I put the corps I think will edge out the higher spot first. 9-12 seems to be a lock.
