  2. Hard to say this early in the year...but we hope to be in the Prelims competition on Saturday, that is our goal. We will be involved in some way or another, if not Prelims, the Mini-corps show on Friday...and most likely some I&E earlier that day. :smile:/>
  3. The Centurions will be holding our first rehearsal of 2013 next Saturday, January 5th, from 12:00-6:00pm at the Sacred Heart Parish Center, 1103 Springfield St., Feeding Hills, MA. We will continue where we left off at our great Open House Thanksgiving weekend, where the hornline learned Part I of our 2013 production Maroon, Black, and Gold, next Saturday by learning Part II of the show, "Clair de Lune." There are openings in all sections...we are an affordable, fun, family-oriented organization. We have every intention of being on the field this summer as a competitive DCA corps. Come and join us for what promises to be a great year for the Centurions! Corps Website Facebook

  10. Part III of our 2013 show Maroon, Black, and Gold will be "Bacchanale" (from Samson and Delilah) by Camille Saint-Saens. A “bacchanale” is a musical composition depicting a wild celebration, or bacchanal, displayed here with flashes of Gold. This builds into the fast paced finale, where we see the return of Maroon and Black, as all the colors of the corps come together to close the show. More info will be available at our Open House, which will be next Saturday the 24th. The announcement thread can be found here. 11. The Centurions would like to announce Part II of our 2013 show Maroon, Black, and Gold: “Clair de Lune,” (from Suite Bergamasque) by Claude Debussy. Meaning "moonlight," it is a lush ballad with a smooth bass line and rich harmonies. Along with dark shades from the guard, the 2013 Centurions will portray the moonlit night, and our second color, Black. Info about our final movement, Gold, coming soon... To find out more about the corps and our show, make plans to attend our Open House on November 24th! Check out our Open House thread here for more info.
  12. The Centurions are pleased to announce our 2013 Program: Maroon, Black, and Gold The show will feature music that reflects our corps colors. The first movement, "Maroon," will be based on selections from Firebird Suite by Igor Stravinsky. Part II, "Black" is a lush ballad from Suite Bergamasque, “Clair de Lune” (which means “moonlight”). A smooth bass line and rich harmonies, along with shades of Black, help portray the night. Part III, "Gold," is represented by the lively “Bacchanale” from the opera Samson and Delilah. A “bacchanale” is a musical composition depicting a wild celebration, or bacchanal, displayed here with flashes of Gold. This builds into the fast paced finale, where we see the return of Maroon and Black, as all the colors of the corps come together to close the show. Our next rehearsal will be January 5th. 14. When I saw the show name "Fragile," I got excited, cause I thought it would be the music of Yes...oh well. This might be good too, especially if it is along the lines of the Songs for the Planet Earth trilogy.
  15. Yes, great piece and only a handful of corps have played it before. It would work great for the Cadets, but definitely something I can see Bush playing...looking forward to hearing it this summer!
  16. I was watching Cadets 1992 and 93 recently (two of my favorite Cadets shows of all time) and it got me to thinking, what if they had decided to complete the "trilogy" in 1994 with another Holsinger show, instead of West Side Story? What music should they have played? My pick would have been Sinfonia Voci. Does anyone have any thoughts about this?
  17. Tomorrow is the day...join us for our first rehearsal of 2012!
