I'll admit I didn't care for the Bluecoats' show when I first saw it June. But this performer sold it for me; he simply exuberated joy.
I didn't realize until late in the season that he was also marching mellophone at other parts in the show.
We just saw that last night. We had always assumed he played in the pit.
Awesome!

Good call on the Troopers’ cellist. And how was she on that derrick? She is my second favorite soloist of the night.
When she wasn't playing, she was emoting and accenting the show below her. So in essence -- a color guard member with a cello vs a rifle.

Best soloist: Ryan, Keytar for Bloo. Man, he looked like he was having the time of his life!
Ryan and Troopers "angry" cellist -- both showing a LOT of emotion in different ways. I loved them both.
And mega kudos to Crown's trumpet soloist for pressing on with that foot injury. Every night was beautiful!

From Indy to about 20 miles north of Louisville on I-65S, we were following the Spirit souvie truck home. Hope they covered their expenses with a lot left over.

The videos proof says otherwise. They may have focused on cleaning musically, but visually they didn't start cleaning up until Murfreesboro or Atlanta.
Yes -- your #3 point: keep adding to the show, if nothing else it keeps the kids engaged and sharp.

Not sure what I did but if a mod can fix it please be my guest!
Is that on the new Spirit thread? You can just edit your post and remove the <> tags.

All super important questions.
Particularly the last one. If that's happening, they can recruit, otherwise, kids will walk on them as that seems to have been the case as things broke open last spring.
As an aside, this is the most interesting posting software glitch ever! 😉
It looks like he wrote it up in an app using HTML and when he copy/pasted, it carried over the tags.
SOA Dad -- thanks for starting this thread. Hope they have a GREAT season!

Everyone has a phone app for their show.
The Ott returns to Crown.

It would be a good thing for DCI to put out a brief article or statement on, especially with the ties we just had.
Then an entire DCP topic goes away.
Wait a minute -- we'd then argue whether that was the correct decision or not. 😉

I thought we learned the GE score rule is no longer there, per Liahona.
Like I said -- IIRC if I recall correctly. I guess I didn't. 🙂

I thought that the scoring system design prevented ties after the many ties years earlier.
EDIT: Never mind. Please look several pages previous or after this post for the correct answer. What I had referred to was later shown as incorrect.

I think our situation was an anomaly. We walked back from supper at Harry and Izzy's (YUM!) and planned to go in then. It was about 4:15-4:30 and we saw the huge line -- from the East gate, around past Payton's statue, and starting down the West gate side. We decided to go to our room first and go back later -- hopefully after things had improved.
About 30 minutes later, we tried again but went to the South Gate where the Vols enter (pit warmup side) but you needed an armband to enter there. So we went on around to the East gate. There were about 3 Express lines (no bags) that maybe had 100-200 people in line each. We cut thru to the first non-Express line and walked to the end, expecting it to wind around the stadium. It didn't -- it went straight down the steps and ended at the street -- about 75 people. There were two more non-Express lines to the right and both of them went around the stadium to the North.
I think they had just opened our line maybe a few minutes before. The folks in the long lines didn't know about the shorter one until they got where they could see it and by that time their remaining wait would have been the same.
So: In line about 5PM
In thru the doors about 5:15-5:20.(For those who have never been to LOS, we talk about East Gate, West Gate, etc, but each side of the building has maybe 20 or more security stations where you enter, not just a single gate.)

Un effing believable. Bought Flo, haven’t missed a single performance all season [except when I was in the big $$ seats @ NightBEAT], and missed the final run. F@#k, par for the course.
Looking over the show thread though, sounds like they did us proud tonight👑!!!
Oh snap…Flo rebroadcast tomorrow. Life is 😊
I think it was the best of the year -- like it should be. Crowd in LOS was awesome!!!

I know, right? Sports fans I can understand🙄 but drum corps fans? Seriously?
They aren't removing the bottle caps this year (and maybe in 2019), so they must think we can be trusted.

It cracks me up every time I hear it. But now I want to unravel this enigma. How/when did this rule start? What constitutes a missile-like object? Has anyone here ever brought something that was not allowed for a ridiculous reason? I need answers.
For several years, the food vendors at LOS Finals removed caps from bottled drinks because NFL fans were chunking them at the refs or opposing teams. I guess they thought we were just as rabid.
-
We went straight to the East gate to scope out the situation. The line for no bags/purses wasn't too bad. We worked our way over to the with bags entrance and headed towards the end. LUCKILY, it ended just down the steps. The line to the right looks like the one winding around the stadium. I guess ours opened just recently.
Total wait time about 10-15 minutes.

Good sign: The Crown souvie booth had to put up that crowd control rope maze for all those fans wanting Crown swag.
