Here's the deal -- I'm not sure where this should go so it's going here.. and hopefully someone in here is an instructor or student and can pass it along. I need a REALLY GOOD marching band or even show band around DESTIN FLORIDA for the opening of an event NEXT THURSDAY (yes.. it's true. the client just called and said, "wouldn't it be great to get a marching band?" *sigh*) That's right. The Classic Cavaliers are largely made up of Cavalier alums but it's not the same as the Alumni Corps (which was a one shot deal and only Cavalier alumni were able to participate in the CAA -- not the case with the Classics). From what I remember, the Classics were started as a local group that could do parades and other appearances that the junior corps couldn't be at.. and it would help bring income into the organization (that's how it was originally explained to me back when it was just a glimmer in their eyes).. not sure that's still the case but it's kind of cool and it gives the old guys a unique connection with the new guys. I don't think this idea is even as new as whatever WGI group did it -- Les Etoiles did something similar in the 90s with their snare line on a spinning rack.. defying gravity has been a goal for some time now.. Hey everybody! Drove home from Indy for the night (7hrs today.. 8hrs back tomorrow.. woo!!).. i HATE not being there tonight. it's KILLING me!!

To anyone interested -- or to any corps who are ever in this area.. we ended up finding a laundromat with more high capacity washers than regular washers and with me and three other people, we managed to get all the uniforms done in two days -- the second day was greens and we got it done in record time... BIG thank you to Mr. Suds in Arkadelphia.. the owner was so accommodating and helpful.. positively the BEST place for uniform laundry!! also big thanks to the volunteers who were there to do other things but pulled away to help us.. Kathy, Adele, Michael and Dawn.. we are the BEST LAUNDRY CREW EVER!! this thread can be closed now! Stef

I thought this might be the case, as well.. and for certain, there's no denying the impact Sly's presence can make. Unfortunately for your scenario, Sly was only with them for a couple of days and didn't work directly with the corps. He observed and then worked with the current staff .. so he is probably making an indirect impact.. and this is not intended to downplay the positive effects Sly can and usually does bring to a visual program.. but the change has come from the existing staff and from the boys, if it's come from anywhere at all.

I'm pretty sure they call it Iowa cause that's its name (IowaIowaIowaIowaIowaIowaIowaIowa) but there are a million versions of the story. Who knows what the truth is anymore.

I think it's cute how fans know the names of the judges that "hate" their favorite. My corps is no different, I just think it's cute. Stef

Irving, I'm not defending the guy, but sometimes when they're on the field, it's easy to get lost or trapped in a drill set. I am fairly certain he wasn't thinking, "I think I'll wipe out some Cadets kids tonight" -- he just got into a bad spot -- okay TWO bad spots. I'm sure it's not the first time it's ever happened. Have there been some changes recently? All it takes is one wrong step in many cases. I wouldn't be erecting a scaffold just yet. I'll ignore the rest of your comments because I like ya and I know you're just upset. :) Stef

I'm not too picky!! Without you, I'm may be the only one standing at a laundromat somewhere in Arkadelphia, AR on Wed, July 28th, washing a bunch of green and black uniforms. LOL Irving, are you under the impression I'll be sitting down?? :) yeah, no. I'm sewing crew this trip so I'll be on the field and then in staging with Cavaliers until the capes are on the DM & Guard Sargeant.. and I'll have a bit rolling cart that goes with me everywhere like it's my wooby.. Maybe we should shoot for the lot?
