It's at least possible Mapex may have done manufacturing for Tama in the past. Some Taiwanese musical instrument companies got their start manufacturing instruments for other brands. Though there seems to be no evidence of such a relationship between Mapex and Tama, such relationships weren't always well publicized.

I vaguely remember SCV marching 14 snares in 1980. The also had 8 quads (4 low and 4 high).

Those are light colored replacement keys. The rest of of the keys are dark. The keyboard in question is a marching xylophone.
