  1. Don't forget: There's a 10 percent senior discount at White Castle for all guests ages 55 and up.
  2. DCI was not checking tickets on the way back in. Everyone, come on over!
  3. Well, I wasn't planning on posting tonight, but as there is a weather delay, might as well shoot the breeze with you fine folk. I reached the stadium at 4 PM. Parked on Chew Street 3 cars behind DCI fan Matt. Matt was pouring bottled water over his hair to clean himself up for the evening! Next, held court with Mike Boo by the corps entry gate. Surprisingly, this is Mike's first show of the season! It was great hearing Mike's stories of Don Warren and Jim Jones. Though Mike had eaten a veggie wrap and grapes today, he longed for a shaved ice or snow cone at the stadium. The National Anthem was performed at 6:30 by a solo trumpet who added several embellishments to the tune. Section Q row 19 does NOT have seat numbers. This has been an annual problem. The row 19 fans are politely bickering with each other. I'm one row down, in the spatially numbered row 18, sitting next to cousins Kit and Ron, who have been attending Allentown for YEARS. Like me, all the weather delays are worth it to hear that glorious outdoor brass sound. Kit is wearing his homemade earcups to absorb the maximum sound. There is still lightning at 9PM in the distance but not above us. The sprinkles have been minimal. It's dark in the rental car, so any spillage from a pork and mustard on a biscuit sandwich is fine. I sorta wish I would have showered today.
  4. Plane leaves Chicago in 30 minutes. I am ready to hit the diners, the Farmer's Market at the fairgrounds, Saturday morning barn sales between Kutztown and Quakertown, stadium shaved ice, and outdoor acoustics.
  5. Why does DCI schedule Monday night shows? I am torn between following Soaring Sounds or The Bachelorette.
  6. Looking at the Katy 50-yard line logo on the field, I finally realize that SCV will be covering the Colts helmet at Finals.
  7. If I may answer, it looks from his picture that he is sitting in top row, between 30 and 35. When he is facing the field, the Rosemont busses are to his right, outside the stadium.
  8. Hook em Cavies - What a joy to feel YOUR joy.
  9. Why can't you burn candles during the week? They only burn on wickends.
  10. I visited a glamorous yard sale on Sycamore in DeKalb and bought a 3 shelf wood bookcase and a Revere Ware skillet.
  11. Ever since the finals moved to Indy, it's been very affordable. The Megabus has only cost $1 each way on the Chicago-Indy route. The annual splurge is Allentown, one week before finals.
  12. Even though I live in Chicago, I'm spending Saturday night in DeKalb. I hate driving late at night. Last Saturday, I got totally lost leaving Whitewater and showed up in Racine 3 hours later. OMG.
  13. Madison performed a great arrangement of the Anthem for 10 brass. Colt Cadets are settling up. Weather is ideal. Parking was slow but more and more lots were opened. Terri is sitting bewteen Jim and a skinny boy.
  14. One of my favorite venues. No track, a beautiful line of pine trees backfield, and bratwurst.
  15. Santa Clara and Cavaliers performed encore together: Send in the Clowns, then Over the Rainbow Cavaliers Age Out is next.
  16. Santa Clara! You have discovered a volume louder than triple forte. Wow, Loved the tether ball scene.
  17. Bluecoats and the Beatles. Drum corps nirvana. Outstanding.
  18. Cadets are aggressive and accessible. Sweet percussion, winning brass, and guard on fire. After the lime green frock is removed, please hide it. It was easily seen beneath one of the 4 staircases, pulling my focus. Loved the show, start to finish.
  19. Blue Stars pants are distracting in this otherwise very musical show. Lots of moving while playing. Change in schedule; Intermission for 20 minutes, then back with The Cadets.
  20. Colts have a great show. Love the over the top staging. Biggest visual stunt of the night.
  21. My first show of the year tonight. Thank you Academy for the goosebumps. Colts are on the field next.
