2005 is when I started following the activity. Cadets 2005, and Cavaliers 2002 were both easy to find on the internet and at the time, I couldn't listen or watch those two shows enough. It was after that I started attending a couple shows a year and got hooked!

Beautifully crafted show. Guard almost steals the show they were so wonderful and weird. As much as I loved the coats that year I don't think there was any doubt who was the winner that year. Definitely top to bottom one of the best of all time!

Saw it once, only remember some train-y special effects. I'm sure the kids were great because they always are, but the show didn't make an impression. SCV and Cavaliers were sucking up most of the oxygen that season.
Projecting that Cavaliers 2003 and Star 1993 will be the final head to head. Would have a hard time making a call on that one.
Love both those shows. I have 2014 Coats and 2015 Crown at the end.

There be some Devils hate going on here..lol That 2004 show was da bomb.

Voted! '99 Cavies drill was killer. No one moved like them for a few years after that. The Cavies shows during that time were just on another level with regard to execution. I loved about half of the Cadets from 2007 but even though I didn't mind the narration as much as others it was just too much. The end of that show though is one of my favorite endings.
Thanks for putting this together!

Btw, conductor Dalia Stasevska and the BBC Phil are releasing a CD called Dalia's Mixtape, which will include an orchestral version of Nautilus by Anna Meredith, which you may remember from Bluecoats 2022. (And they followed up with her tune Bump last summer)
I like this version. I'll admit I don't really enjoy listening to Anna Meredith much. It makes for great DCI source music but its not for my playlist..lol. I think the music needs to be combined with visuals to be effective. Just my opinion. I know this tune popped up in an iPhone commercial recently. It was perfect for that too.

I remember so looking forward to this show. I was supposed to see it in Lexington and the show was rained out. I finally got to see it once at prelims live. I would have loved to see it outside. Never gets old

Obscure af and never would've known about it otherwise.
Love it! Thanks. I know I've heard it before can't place it. Maybe a high school group too. Maybe a movie. DCX says Cavaliers 2018. Have to check that next.
EDIT: Checked out Cavies 2018. I do remember that piece. That was an interesting show. I think I only saw that once that year. Enjoyed rewatching

I would consider BDs 2000 show "Methods of Madness" dark.
That opening drill is unreal. 150 people are not supposed to move so effortlessly like that.
Just watched to check it out. See what you mean. Whole corp just seems to float across the field. Cool

I'm always anxious to see the new show music every year. One reason is I always discover new music that I listen to for the first time. Here are a few off top of my head I listened to first through DCI but now I listen to regularly, and the Corp that introduced it to me. Would love to hear others!
Bjork- Cadets 2005, Crown 2023
Youn Sun Nah and Ulf Wakenius- Bluecoats
John Adams- Blue Stars
Bobby McFerrin- Blue Knights
Ennio Morricone- Troopers, Crown
Too many to list!

Bloo 2016, I saw them very early in Hamilton Ohio before alot of the buzz and I knew I was seeing something VERY different. It's not that often that you see something that different and unlike many others I immediately loved it. I was definitely surprised at what they put on the field.

Actually, in 2008, it's a shame if you missed Finals in Bloomington. The top four were all incredible. And, the scores were so close. Phantom barely squeaked it out over the visually perfect Devils, and both the Cavies and Crown were just as worthy as the top two.
Don't remember why I missed. I was a retail manager and Saturdays were hard to take off but I usually at least hit the prelims. Must have been short staffed.

2021 the non-judged, back from COVID Celebration year. Just about anyone's show. They were all very enjoyable. Still the one I listen to the most, even Finals from the Dino years.
That was great to see most of them back. I enjoyed Phantom and Cadets the most I guess that year.

I mean, sure. Everything is more expensive. It just seems like another indicator that the DCI business model isn't exactly working anymore. That cost is prohibitive.
I disagree. Last season I attended the Mason OH show and it was sold out. Granted, there were 4 top 12 corps at that show. Perhaps the prices should vary more to reflect the number and caliber of the groups performing. My biggest gripe is when the ticket prices are high and the shows are rained out. I wish there was a way to get a credit to a future show.

I started going to 2 or three shows a year beginning in 2006. I was busy working and raising kids during most of that time, so there are some years (shows) I really regret not seeing live. Here are a few off top of my head.
Phantom 2008
Carolina 2015
Carolina 2008
Actually the whole season 2008 I missed unfortunately
***correction I did attend one show in 2008. I saw Cavaliers, Bluecoats, Bluestars, and Crossmen that year somewhere in Cincinnati. I remember loving Cavies Samarai show.

I'm happy to pay to see the shows. I really enjoy seeing the corps. Not only do I personally get much enjoyment from a live show but I'm helping to develop young musicians minds and helping them to create memories that will last a lifetime.
Unlike seeing a rock or pop artist live, the quality of the performance live is so much better than recorded.
I can think of a few years I was working alot and didn't make it to a show, and I am always sad that I wasn't able to see those shows live.

Seems like a real interesting person. Had such an impact on Drum Corp. I love the description of the creation and rehearsal of the cross to cross. I can picture all the members dialed in staying as long as needed to get it done. They must have had alot of confidence in him that it would be great.

Fun to watch. It reminds me of high school band days. The high school shows were influenced so much by DCI. My high school director didn't really promote drum corp to the students perhaps that's why it took me so long to get it. I wish I had been encouraged to participate in DCI. No telling how it would have changed my life.
