Lindsay Kusmierczak replaces Jim Moore as the Color Guard Caption Head is incorrect. Lindsay Kusmierczak replaces Shavon Garcia as Color Guard Caption Head. Jim Moore is the the choreographer and maybe the Color Guard Supervisor? -

Bluecoats 2017 thread - Go Blooooooo!
ashyUechi replied to ajlemm's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
It's part Bob Fosse and part Clockwork Orange. There's an underpinning of Clockwork Orange in their show. -
It's a balance of achievement weighted against the content. You all are counting ticks thinking that the content for all the groups is the same and it isn't. The bloo members were marching up walls while doing body and keeping formations. That's a whole energy and technique that no one has explored, ever. Their movement vocab was much denser than other groups. It isn't a bunch of keep the right hand on the horns and use the other three limbs. They actually put their instruments down and dance. They started their show with the drum line dancing with no drums on. No one else took their drums off and asked their drummers to dance. Exposure, look at the uniform. The opening dance block? No one was as exposed as that. They actually had to be performers who used their faces. Every other drum corps hid their faces under a big hat. That's a whole responsibility that no one else had. Bloo was hauling around the field. They jazz ran a lot. Their drill isn't all on, 2 off and splitting like most other groups have been moving towards. Thanks Pyware... I mean Obama! I really mean pyware. Their content was denser and when you weight that against their achievement they did a great job. They had blemishes but they were good enough visually to get them in a winning position and they did. Looking forward to 2017.

New Evolution of DCI Uniforms In HS

"If said summer band doesn't have a hat with feathers then that same said band SUCKSSSSSS!" Long live the band hats!!!! -
The best run organizations win. They are well run and they bring in the best kids. A drum corps that is run poorly for example, can never get to housing on time and loses rehearsal time doesn't win. Ashy

He never marched Crossmen. He wrote their drill for a year or two while he was writing Cadets. He marched Garfield/ Bergen County Cadets and NYC corps. Never Crossmen.

Blue Coats DCI Champions '16: Paradigm Shift?
ashyUechi replied to 81Freelancers's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Blue Devils and their use of props changed the ways teams do things. Since they did the show with the chairs more teams have used props and re-staged the way they do. -
The entire Cadets staff has quit in the past two years.

Bluecoats had a couple of moments of clarity issues. Pathetic is a harsh way to put it. Bluecoats were way more exposed, their show drill wise was much more difficult and their content was much more dense than the other two teams. I believe your critique comes more from a bitterness that your favorite team didn't win. -
Impact of Bloo's win on future show designs

I don't agree. BD started using props every year and not props area a mainstay in shows. -
I didn't say they weren't coming second. I just don't think they're going to get much better.
-
BD already has. Don't get mad at me for saying it. Just watch the next two weeks.

Bloooooooooooo! Bluecoats Official 2016 Thread
ashyUechi replied to ajlemm's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Everyone is imitating themselves. The Bluecoats are the only team seeking to be progressive and try new ideas. -
The majority of fans at DCI are parents and family of the kids performing. Every three years there's a turn over in the audience as there is in corps membership. The hard core drum corps fan isn't making up the majority of tickets sales as you may think. The recaps isn't about us. We will still see who won the larger captions. The staff will see the detailed recaps at shows but not be allowed a hard copy. I bet you'll still enjoy the season!

Katie Hopkins has always had the respect of everyone in the Cadets. This is because she works as hard as everyone else, she's talented and she earns her place. Katie is a great dancer and teacher. She is not the only person retained from the previous guard staff. -
