  1. The Rocketeers also did it in 2012 in Annapolis for the Brass Ensemble competition :) As they left the stage everyone around me was humming the tune, it's a catchy number!
  2. It's kind of a big deal. And no, we don't care for the whole state of M!C#!G@N... especially those guys in Ann Arbor. East Lansing isn't much better.
  3. I liked what they did in 2012 with Star United performing in Exhibition as the Minicorps Champs, and bringing the winning show from Friday to the Sunday crowd is a cool idea that works for me if someone is to be in exhibition.
  4. You'll be missed in DCA, but I can't wait to see you perform in Indy next summer!
  5. You say that like they are the only corps out there. I'd love for several to come every year. To be fair though I'd love to be in an American corps and go over seas as well the other way!
  6. Its going to make the CD that much more fun when I listen to Star
  7. Could not agree more, I think Impact of Orlando shocked me more than any other with how well they were improved over last year. A great show for mini this year. I only wish we could have had more corps in it. I missed not having some of my yearly favorites the last few years like Mass Brass (I did see them in Brass Choir) and especially Minnie Brass. I hope they can make it in next year for minis!
  8. You heard right! GR over Star by less than a point. GR 96 Star 95.7 I think?
  9. Most of those music teachers... aren't drummers either. Matched is easier and faster to show a large group of 5th graders anxious to just hit the darn drum :)
  10. Rare is right! That's one bugle I've not been able to find yet. I've been working on making myself a set of Sopranos, with one each of single locking valve - 3 valve. Missing the two horizontal piston horn, as well as a G/D piston rotor sop. Oh well, all in good time.
  11. I got that shirt as well. Oregon Crusaders were making them on the spot, they had several like it.
  12. Yep. I should probably rephrase my comment, meant it to say I can hit it on either.
  13. Very big surprise. They carried themselves well through the season, and finished well. I'm glad they didn't have an issue come up and fold mid season as we've seen before. I'm sad to see them go, always enjoyed thier shows!
  14. If you take your time to teach properly, nothing really. If every musician in a line does their job to listen and tune they will sound just fine together. Notice how in any wind band or orchestra you find instruments in every key sounding beautiful together including Eb, Bb, F, C and sometimes even D and A; well it's really no different here. If the whole line is responsible for intonation, balance and blend as they should be it would work fine, doesn't matter who is in what key. Now reality is that rarely happens, players don't keep that in mind the whole time.
  15. Empire Statesmen, San Fransico Renegades, Kilties, Cincinnati Tradition, High Country Brass, are DCA corps on G horns just to name a few. Most Alumni corps play G horns as well.
  16. We can 'what if' all we want. Personally, I love my G horns, they are a blast to play and as others have said any competent player can easily play them in tune with good instruction. But regardless, they aren't coming back. Sorry! I can't say that it upsets me, I'm glad I've learned to play them and have had the opportunity to use them, but I have Bb trumpets every bit as good and powerful as my sops (I have a Kanstul 103 Collesium, a Bb version of their 3v powerbore sops :) )
  17. Also, my money says SCV wins the poll... re: 1988/1989
  18. I'm excited for the show and the battle. The Saints (local Columbus group I'm now working with) are ready to compete in the battle!
  19. I just saw that. Logged into check that I saw that right and saw this. They were called a marching band in the segment though
