Summer Olympic Games in Cincinnati
Soprano Martin replied to TubaJon's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
That was the year before. It was dry when we (Tradition) started and then as we progressed it drizzled... and the heavens let loose as we hit the climax of the ballad. I believe it was Crossmen who got their show in as the rains abated temporarily, but then they called the show after that when lightening showed up! -

Advice for an aspiring corps member?
Soprano Martin replied to melloplayer17's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
To get some expirience this year, check and see if any DCA corps are in your area. Good way to get experience as rehearsals are weekends, leaving you plenty of time to prep for college auditions, summer job, etc! -

Worst performance ever

Not corps, but at a show in high school a tuba player actually decided as they finishing it was a good time for a yelling match with the principal. Extremely embarrassing for the band! -

Having played this piece before... I would not wish to march it. That solo cornet part (the endless 16th note runs at 160 in the key of C) Is a bear even just sitting down! -

No experience with that harness but I've been with several groups that used the Ludwig harness below with happy results, including high school, college, teaching school band and the line I am working with currently. http://www.columbuspercussion.com/store/ldwig-standar.html

There is merit to that, its very similar to the DCE model from what I understand of it. Problem here in the US would remain of having both DCI and DCA

Dynasty Horns/Percussion
Soprano Martin replied to MotorCityMusician's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I had a student accidently drop a Dynasty trumpet from the back of the stands at a high school football game. It fell about 50 ft to the ground.... and it played better. I'm glad it was his and not a school horn. I have no love for the horns.
