Just listened to BD 86, Madison 88, and Phantom 89. I LOVE that sound!

I'll have to listen to more of those old recordings. I have listened to a few of them, and have actually not really noticed the middle voice of the horn line. But now I will give it more thought. Also, as to your point about high school intensity, that is entirely true. I am just a corps nut who expected excellence from my tuba section. I want to get a contra, I just keep looking in the market place for one in the right price range. It will go nicely with my DEG II Baritone when I get one Finally, if I won't get a transformative experience in DCI, I'll audition for a DCA Corps

I wish that the french horn bugle still existed, I would love to hear that unruly beast on the field today. And I agree about the synth having little place in drum corps. I believe that it makes horn players get lazy. I say this b/c in high school my band had a bass player, so the other tuba player figured that they didn't need to try as hard.

Yeah, Das Boot would be good also. Only reason I said inception is b/c my drum instructor told me to write my own field show (I want to be a band director) and Inception is one of the ideas that I have been toying with

I agree with this whole heartedly. I am the music coordinator/camp counselor of a local summer camp, and we do vouchers and scholarships for families who can"t afford to send their kids to camp. We also provide transportation to and from camp for any child, and a lunch program for those families. These experiences at camp are life changing for many of these children. It is true that children learn a lot at camp. In fact, one of the kids learned so much about music, they decided they want to learn the baritone.

I want to see 23 entertaining shows, and whoever has the highest score wins.
