  1. We use to refer to the intro as "Freak In", the outro as "Freak Out".
  2. Intro to OTL, "Freak In" was original composition by Larry Kerchner (1971). It definitely IS from "Verdi's" Aida, Dreitzer just sped it up (1970). Not familiar with Puccini version.
  3. Posted 20 September 2016 - 12:15 PM St. Andrews Bridgemen "March Triumphant" or was it "Triumphant March"? Anyway, circa 1971 and I REALLY liked it! "Triumphal March" from Aida.
  4. http://www.steelstacks.org/event/3456/frank-zappa-eat-that-question/ Favorite to see conduct. Including Russo. If you never did, you really missed out.
  5. 1972 blue stars Thought so that night, more so years later watching the DVD.
  6. To those that will celebrate Saint Andrew's 50th tomorrow night, have a great time. From humble beginnings on 4th St. to a bunch of high school kids competing at Nationals. Memories and friendships to last a lifetime! Be safe and have fun. Miss those that are no longer with us. Please remember them all.

  9. Lent my copy to one of our rifles. Saw it and had to have her own copy. Arrived today. A must if you kicked it all off in Whitewater. '72 DVD is just as good.
  10. Since they were cut off the DVD, here's a chance to see them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjcxXF66XYQ
  11. Just watched it. Glad I now own a copy. Worth it.
  12. 1974 was still the days of 5 minute Prelim shows. Corps sometimes re-arranged shows to capture their best GE moments, others held them out until Finals. And defending champs could opt to go on last regardless of Prelim placement.
  13. St. Andrew's shared the quadrangle w/Argonne. If you were there, you could have seen Sandra Opie conducting the Bridgemen horn line. Memorable.

  16. What if tonight is rained out? Will all Saturday corps perform Sunday?
  17. Competed against Boston at the Drumfest in 1971. Some hockey arena. Believe it was in April. Wore white dinner jackets because our uniforms weren't ready. Read Eastern Review in those days to see if we were ranked Top 10.
  18. .....there were Drum Corps standstill exhibitions in January at Boston's Symphony Hall ( recorded by Fleetwood Records to later be sold to attendees and fans nationally ) and Standsill Competitions in April at either the Boston Garden or Boston University...
