Carolina Crown 2020
BrassTeacher replied to Newseditor44's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
No, I suggested "The Charlottans"... (Charlatans) -
I would just like to say that seeing the words "Finals" and "Hotel" in the same sentence short-circuited more than a few of my remaining neurons...

I don't like responding to rumors, but just going to throw this out there: If this rule had been in place in 1990, the 1990 DCI Div. II World Champion would not have been allowed to compete.

2021 Proposed Rule Change
BrassTeacher replied to brassboy62's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I hope the OP doesn't mind, but I'm using this as a template, as well as a couple key phrases, for a possible real rules change proposal. It has nothing to do with uniforms though! -
Time to Say Goodbye, after 15 years
BrassTeacher replied to Ray Kimber's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Yes folks, if you know who Mr. Kimber is, you would not be so quick to dismiss his opinion and observation on the sound of drumcorps coming through some of the sound systems currently in use. If I remember correctly, he came up with a special way to wind cables to shield them from almost any induced noise around them, allowing for much clearer recording and playback. Electronic sound is the man's business. https://www.kimber.com -
Wow, I haven't seen the name "Notabando" since back when I was thin and had hair...

There's a difference between discussion and actively digging for dirt just to satisfy one's need for a scandal. Which is it you are after? Everything you've written indicates the latter. People on this forum have indeed crossed over the line into libel/slander in the past. I respect and trust Tommy far too much to sit idly by and watch people try to do it to him. I agree, except for the last sentence. I've seen people here go out of their way to be mean. -

Let's try it this way: He made public what he wanted public. Anyone other than Tommy or the BoD has no reason to know any more than that. In other words, anything other than what he chose to share is his business. It is not the function of any third party to make uneducated guesses, especially ones that could damage the reputation or image of either party involved. I will point out something I pointed out around this time last year when someone came after me on this forum, someone not involved, with no real information on the subject: These are real human beings you are talking about, with real lives. So the same respect you would want shown to you. -

How about this: Let Tommy have his privacy. -

Staff Merry-Go-Round 2019
BrassTeacher replied to Crown Phan's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I think this describes the original staff of the Carolina Crown very well. Most of us were still there when the corps won the Div. II DCI World Championship in 1993, And a large portion of us were still there when the corps made DCI Finals the first time in 1995. If I remember correctly, the corps started out in 33rd place in 1990, then went 25, 25, 21, 17, 11. -
Since I responded when you trolled the "Staff Merry-Go-Round" thread with a similar comment, I'll respond with a similar comment here: Yes, a middle school band director. I was a middle school band director for 25 years, even during the brief time I taught HS. I'd like to think that the hornlines I've taught were at least better than average. Also, I've been waiting for the official announcement to do this: Congrats Chuck!!!

I was a middle school band director for over 25 years, even during the brief time I taught high school band (talk about a LONG workday, lol). I would say that most of my hornlines turned out to be at least ok... By the way, been waiting for the official announcement to do this: Congrats Chuck!!! -

Well, I could have posted something like this, but it would've been kind of mean to leave people hanging: To demonstrate my ability to keep my mouth shut, I have known for three days now who the new brass caption head is for the Madison Scouts, plus a couple core brass staff members, but I'll wait until they announce for themselves publicly to congratulate them! See how mean that would've been? P.S. Yes, I really do know who it is P.P.S. Everyone rest easy, it's not me! P.P.P.S. It is an old friend of mine, and I am quite happy for him! -

Well, there have been some personal attacks, inferences with no factual basis, and at least one outright libelous comment made on this thread. Interestingly, most of those types of comments have come from low-post-count accounts. (See: NewToPosting) Also, depends upon who you are including in the term "we". [EDIT] - And YES, my post count is only 14, but I have been here for eight years. I just happen to be able to keep my mouth shut when necessary :) -
You should've seen how crowds at parades reacted to Magic doing Li'l Liza Jane, especially the crowd at the Bristol 4th of July Parade!

True, but one particular post (which apparently has been deleted) was so inaccurate and potentially damaging that it had to be addressed. -
